Slide 4 Technology is a tool It is a tool that helps you complete a task. It comes in many different forms like you saw on the previous page. All of those things help us complete a different task. Sometimes we use technology to learn. Sometimes we use technology for fun! Slide 5 Is a computer a piece of technology? Yes! No!Yes!No! Slide 6 Try Again! Remember, technology is a tool that can help us complete a task. Ask yourself whether a computer can help you complete a task, like a homework task. Slide 7 Yes! A computer is one piece of technology that we use. There are many parts to a computer, and they all do something different that allows us to work on a computer. Lets learn about each of these computer parts. Slide 8 This is a computer tower. It has the computers brain in it. This is where the information is stored on the computer. The button on the front of the computer tower is where you turn the computer on and off. Laptop computers dont have a tower, they have the brain built right into the laptop. Slide 9 This is a computer monitor. A monitor looks similar to a TV, but it is used for computers. A monitor shows us the information that is in our computer tower. A monitor allows us to view images from our computer and the internet. Slide 10 This is the mouse. The mouse is what we use to move around the computer screen. The mouse has buttons on it that we push when we want to click on something being viewed on the computer screen. Slide 11 This is a keyboard. The keyboard has different keys on it. The keyboard has all of the letters of the alphabet on it, as well as numbers and symbols. The keyboard allows us to type letters, numbers, and symbols on the computer monitor. Remember, it is NEVER ok to give out your personal information on the computer, and a phone number is personal. Slide 41 Correct! Right! A phone number is personal and you should NEVER give out personal information on the computer! Slide 42 Technology is helpful. Look around and chances are you will find a lot of technology in your environment. Make sure that you are taking proper care of your technology and making smart decisions! Slide 43 Your are done!!!
