integrate technology in the arts?1. By integrating technology
into art and music, it exposes the children to new and exciting ways to show artistic expression.
2. All media should have a place in the curriculum.
3. With the technology today, children are required to develop a new set of literacies that go beyond the computer literacy.
4. Art instruction teaches the communicative language of the new technology- sound, animation, music, drama, video, graphics, text, and voice.
5. The arts counterbalance the changes in the technological society today by emphasizing artistic awareness in the wave
of technology.

Issues and Problems in Music Education
– Many educators and administration are viewing music technology as a discrete discipline, separate from the “core” activities. Activities such as band, choir, dance, and general music that include technology are considered “alternative” learning environments.
– The focus in music education in the Secondary level focus mostly on the Western European tradition such as Broadway and classical music, rather than the American tradition.

How Technology Is Integrated Into Music Education
In addition to general purpose software (word processing, spreadsheet, etc.), two categories of computer based tools can serve the specific needs of music teachers:
•Instructional Software: comprises the many programs developed for particular use in a teaching situation. Several types of instruction including tutorial, drill and practice, and games.
•Music Production Software or Tool Programs: are those developed be the music instrument industry for professional use in composition, recording, and performance. Encompasses sequencing, digital audio editing, and music notation.

Technology in Art Education
Current Issues
• How can we give all students stronger art backgrounds?
• How can we spend more time on other aspects of art, other than just creating?
