Backup / Restore Tests June 9th 2016

The UCS system (real hardware) was a min UCS, running 3.1.1h

UCS is registered with UCS Central running 1.4.1b

Backup and Export is set “Global”

The UCS systems is moved in Domain Group “mini-UCS”

First we take a baseline backup. As test we concentrate on the VLAN configuration:

In UCS Central we create a Backup Policy (“All configuration backup”)

The schedule is updated accordingly

The backup runs successfully

The backup shows in the repository

Test Nr 1: Backup / Restore with Replace

Now we make a modification in the live mini-UCS system. Eg. We add new VLAN’s (3000-3020)

And do a restore from the last “All configuration” backup, with the “Replace” flag.

And the result is: the modifications in the VLAN configuration are removed

Test Nr 2: Backup / Restore with Merge

We create again new VLAN’s 3000-3020.

Take a Backup.

Delete Vlan 3002/3003, and 3016/17/18

Now do a restore with “Merge”

Vlan’s 3002/3003 and 3016/17/18 are restored !

Test Nr 3: Backup / Restore with Merge

Add Vlan 3000 – 3020, then do a backup

Delete Vlan 3000-3010, add Vlan’s 4000-4005

Now do a restore with “Merge”

Vlan’s 3000-3010 are restored, and Vlan’s 4000-4005 stay as before !
