Technologies Used

Within production

Canon 550D - HD SLR camera . This camera was used throughout the product of making the documentary . Very high quality clearly shown its use with the Safe & Sound scene with interviews .

Weakness -As this camera did not have a internal hard drive we had to use external memory cards which limited the footage we could take as there was not enough space at time .

Strength – As the camera is also a still camera this also helped with taking pictures throughout the planning and research and the poster – ancillary product .

Panasonic TM900 – This is another HD camera coder with a 32 GB internal hard drive attached with full 1080p HD . This was the main camera used throughout the product and was far the best camera we used .

Weakness – The camera had a lot of features which sometimes became confusing as we did not know how to turn them off or on .

Strength - The camera had a great zoom and could zoom in from a great distance and still capture a Sharpe clear image

Apple I mac 22inch - This was the main computer we used for the editing stages and also the planning stages as it was fast and had all the necessary software's on the computer .

Strengths- This computer has the most recent version of Final Cut so modern features available , also had 2 back up hard drives

Weakness – This computer is regularly used so limited the availability of it to our group .

MacBook Pro 17inch – This was other computer we used for editing . This computer has a 500GB hard-driver and final cut pro on it as well .

Strengths – The laptop was one of the group member's so availability of the laptop was not busy .

Weakness – We had some techniqual difficulties with the footage been transferred across which caused problems on final cut .

Final Cut X This is the latest final cut edition available . On the I mac this was the main software we used to edit our production .

Strengths –The new software has all the latest features at is more beginner friendly than the previous versions

The software AutoSaves every 10 minutes so there is no worry in it no saving or having to save it . This benefitted us as sometimes we may be in rush and may of forgot to save .

Weaknesses – As with any new piece of software it took us a few tutorials before we got the hang of the software which set us back some time .

Any previous projects within the old final cut we could not transfer so we had to re edit some parts , which set us back some time in doing this .

Wordpress ( Online Blog )

Throughout our production we used an online blog which allowed us to upload our work digitally such as videos presentations and contextual information.

Strengths – the blog was available where ever internet access was which made it accessible when at home and other places

Weakness – as the blog was provided through the internet sometimes we encountered connection difficulties which prevented us from doing any work
