Recently,STPC launched a number of strategic researchprogrammes at its centres of excellence, amongothers the Nano-science and Nanotechnology andPost-genomic Biomedicine Programmes, the AddedValue for Seafood Programme, the Icelandic Institutefor Intelligent Machines.

Green innovation: The Iceland 2020 strategy targetseco-innovation as the main growth sector in the nextdecade, and aims to double growth in turnoverbetween 2011 and 2015. Green public procurementalso enjoys high priority.
