Project 1:
Documentation I
The purpose was to study the East Falls bridge which lies near campus. It is an historic bridge in the area that is worth spending time at.
76
This is a sketch of the area and of the East Falls Bridge (top) and a collage of the bridge (bottom). The collage is an assembly of multiple images taken from the south end of the bridge.
These are perspective images of the East Falls Bridge. These pictures were taken from the north end of the bridge.

Project: 2
Manipulation
The purpose was to edit several pictures of the East Falls Bridge in order to capture a moment or story using Adobe Photoshop.
1110
These are images of the East falls Bridge that have been edited in order to capture a moment in each image.
The edits in these images are solely done using Photoshop. The original pictures are on the right of each set while the edited pictures are on the left of the set.

Project 3:
Collage
The purpose was to capture a specific moment in one image of the East Falls bridge in detail. We were to use hand drawing abilities and Photoshop
1514
The original image was zoomed in and a specific potion was hand drawn to capture a moment or movement. The hand drawn portion was then edited into the final. The intention was to capture the horizontal movement of the beams and provide a greater reading of depth.

Project 4:
Texture
The purpose was to use hand and digital techniques to create a perspective a house studied in Design 2. The house I studied was the Paulk Residence built by James Cutler in Seaback Washington.
1918
This is the Paulk Residence, which was studied in Design 2. The hand drawn perspective was edited in Photoshop to add texture and detail to complete the view. The house sits deep in the woods outside of Seattle. It over looks Mt. Olympus and the Hood Canal.

Project 5:
Representation I
The purpose was to pick an object and create the appropriate drawings to relay the necessary information by hand. The object I chose was a simple watch.
2322
The object chosen was to have several drawings made to represent the object appropriately. The appropriate measurements were taken and the drawings were completed by hand. the drawings were then scanned into Photoshop for final post processing
2524
Project 6:
Representation II
The purpose was to pick an object and create the appropriate drawings to relay the necessary information digitally. The same watch was chosen as in the previous assingment
2726
The object, same as last time, was to have several drawings created in order to relay the necessary information. However, this time around the drawings were to be completed using Illustrator which eliminates the need to post process the scanned drawings.

Project 7:
Freeswim
The purpose was to pick a prior assignment and attempt it again in order to complete it better. I chose to improve my digital submission of the watch drawings, Project 6.
3130
This is the first attempt at using Illustrator to draw the six views of the watch.
In the second attempt, I paid closer attention to line weight and placement of construction lines.

Project 8:
Documentation II
The purpose was to visit the Barnes Foundation and capture a specifc concept through images and drawings. The Barnes foundation is an art museum in Philadelphia located next to the Ben Franklin Parkway.
3534
These are four sketches of the Barnes Foundation ( Philadelphia) that convey one concept; nature in the city and around the museum. I happened to visit the foundation just after a snow storm.
These are four perspective images of the Barnes Founudation using the same concept of nature. The snow allowed for a reading of the building that we may have lost, but we were unable to study the reflecting pools due to this.
3736
This collage is comprised of several images overlapping to produce one image. The collage conveys the same concept of nature in the given environment. The intention was to give the sprawling branches a heavy reading with the Barnes Foundation in the background.

Project 9:
Constructs I
The purpose was to edit pictures of the house model created in Design 2, digitally and by hand, to show a concept and more detail.
4140
The Paulk Residence was studied and modeled in Design 2. The model was placed into its actual setting in Washington. The concept of the rigid axial placement of the house is shown using Photoshop and Illustrator.
A section drawing (top) was created using images of the model. A perspective (bottom) was create using an image of the model then completed by hand. Both were done using hand drawing, Photoshop and Illustrator.
4342
Project 10:
Constructs II
The purpose was to edit images of the house model created in Design 2 to enhance the model. All edits were done using Photo-shop
4544
Three images of the model of the Paulk Res-idence were taken and edited to fix errors and enhance the image.
All of the original pictures of the model are on the left while the edited and fixed pictures are on the right.

Narrative II

Expo 2000 was built by MVRDV to represent the Dutch culture in one building. There are six environments stacked on top of each other. The building is part of the 2000 Holland World Fair and is meant to capture the pos-itive stereotypes of the Dutch culture. The building incorporates nature elements in both its interior and its exteri-or. It is the first of its kind to do this and therefore served as an excellent study for using nature within a building for the future. This provides a space that covers a variety of uses while freeing up space in the surrounding area for other purposes. The building begins the conversation of technology and nature working together in the same space.
The purpose of this project was to create a presentation board for a building in a group or partnership. The Building that I worked with was Expo 2000 which was part of the 2000 world fair.

Expo 2000 was a ground breaking building that represented the entire Dutch culture. The Building was the first of its kind in means of vertical farming. This building introduced the idea of using a condensed space to farm on several levels.

Recover
The purpose of this project was to take a book and re-design a cover for it. This could be done by any means necessary. The book that I chose was The Inferno by Dante Aligheri in the 1300’s. The epic was intended to be a comdey at the time.
5352
The Inferno is about a travel-ler accompanied by a guide that travel throught the nine circles of hell. I chose to rep-resent this using only char-coal as my medium. Once my drawing was completed I scanned it into Photoshop and later to InDesign for the text and post processing.
Once printed and applied to a copy of the original book, I took pictures of my book cover design. This was to show the book in use and to also give a scale reference.

Graphic
The purpose of this project was to select an architecture school and design a lecture series poster for the school. This project gave us a chance to look into our graphic design skills. The school that I chose was Princeton School of arcitecture.
5756
Princeton likes to use bright colors and chunky text in their posters and recently have been pushing towards using powerful vintage styled images in the background of the poster. Princeton is an advocate of New Urbanism. That hepled to choose the image and the architects that I chose to speak in ym lecture series.

Perspective
The purpose of this project was to provide a perspective section of our final model for Design 2 studio. In Design 2, we were to create a visitor’s center for the house we studied earlier in the semester. This design was based on the original house, whether it complimented the original or not. The scond part of the project was left open to our choice

Given a free reign with the final I assignent I chose to put my final visitor center for the Paulk Residence into its repsective envirnonment. The house sits slightly east of the original house in Seaback Washington.
This is perspective section of my visitor center design for the Paulk Residence. I created this using Pho-tography, hand drawing, Illustrator and Photoshop. this is taken through the reception, gallery and observatory areas of the building looking east.
