In 1998 it took over the Schweighofer Group and became one of the largest and most important European and Global players in timber industry. The factory in Ybbs is the largest and most modern production site for Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), providing an innovative solid building system for single or multi- story residential, industrial or commercial building projects. It consists of elements of different visual qualities, with dimensions up to 16 x 2.95 m and 40 cm thickness, as well as pre-cut ready-to-fit panels. A visit of the CLT production site or/and the sawmill will be possible during the excursion. The production hall itself is a solid CLT construction with a ground area of 12,000 m². Rubner Holzbau Glulam production Product: Glulam wood, roof and wall panels, wood- & glass facades, building solutions Factory tour guided by civil engineer, incl. presentation. Rubner Holzbau, belonging to the Rubner Group, has its head office in South Tyrol and was one of the first companies in central Europe which specializes in the production of glulam, a lightweight material, as well as prefabricated roof elements in timber engineering. Today the production facility is one of the largest and cutting-edge manufacturing sites for timber products, especially for large-scale structural roof and wall elements. Due to the in-house tinsmith department, it is market leader in the field of building envelopes in Austria. Dürnstein Medieval Town Wachau, since 2000 UNESCO World Heritage Site with the city of Dürnstein Walk through the historical part of the city. The Wachau is one of the most famous regions in Austria, known for its unique landscape, the historical structures, and its excellent wine. The city of Dürnstein is characterized by a beautiful natural scenery, many vineyards, and a historical center with numerous cultural monuments from the early medieval period, such as the castle ruin of King Richard the Lionheart from the 12th century. Acoustic Centre - Holzforschung Austria Founded in 1953, Austria’s most important wood-related research and testing laboratory with around 100 employees. Headquarters in Vienna and research campus in Stetten. Research: Practice-oriented projects for wood-based and related products Centre tour guided by civil engineer, incl. presentation. The Acoustic Centre Austria was established as an interdisciplinary centre of excellence and application-oriented research. The newly founded Acoustic Centre has a laboratory especially equipped for acoustic experiments and aims to increase the competitiveness of timber constructions by offering acoustic investigations on existing structures and new developments, such as the examination of sound reduction indices, footfall sound insulation, studies in extended frequency ranges, and on free field facades. G3 Shopping Resort Gerasdorf Design: ATP architects and engineers Timber construction: Graf Holztechnik GmbH Completion: 2012 International Design Award 2013, NÖ Holzbaupreis Distinction Guided interior visit, free program. The shopping resort Gerasdorf is characterized by the sprawling curved timber one to two-story roof construction, covering a surface of 60,000 m². Glulam beams as primary structure in combination with a cross-laminated-timber roof skin, with an average structural height of 16 cm, were used for the roof construction. The project with a total floor area of 90,000 m² was carried out in only 17 months, whereas the roof itself was assembled in 4 months.
