Pit mounting is standard. STANDARD FEATURES 1. CONSTRUCTION The Animal Cage Washer, wash chamber and all metal components inside the wash chamber are of stainless steel and are of smooth construction without crevices and ledges for the potential build up of debris and contamination. The Animal Cage Washer load and unload doors are , single or double interlocked hinged door made in stainless steel AISI 316 L with glass inspection window. If the “man on board” safety cable is activated, both loading and unloading doors can be manually opened from within the chamber. In case of activation of any emergency stop switch the loading door it is possible to unlock the loading side door using the key on the switch located on the electrical cabinet. Pneumatic inflatable gasket for the doors. Wash chamber floor consist of heavy-duty stainless steel (2 mm thickness) grating covering the load area. Grating sections are easily removable for cleaning or maintenance. The chamber sump is equipped with a level control switch, automatic temperature control, automatic water fill port and a stainless steel steam heating coil for the heating of re-circulated treatment solutions. The control system displays and monitors solution temperatures for all water tanks. All Animal Cage Washers re-circulated treatments are under pump pressure. The pump system is equipped with a direct reading, liquid filled pressure gauge. The Animal Cage Washer is equipped with a transformer for the control circuit, magnetic starters with overload protection for all motors and all other electrical components required for the washer operation. A light can be provided to illuminate the wash chamber (as optional). The Animal Cage Washers is equipped with pneumatically actuated ball valves to control the output of the pump to the jet system or drain. Animal Cage Washers is supplied with two chemical dosing pumps with flow capacity of 18 litres/hour. One more dosing pump can be added as optional. The Animal Cage Washers Programming is in standard time and Celsius temperature. Times and temperatures are expressed in seconds or minutes and 0,1 degree increments respectively. An

APPLICATION

The Cages Washer is a heavy duty, large capacity, hydro-spray washer designed for use in central processing departments to clean, sanitize animal cages, general purpose carts used in research facilities. Pit mounting is standard.

STANDARD FEATURES

1. CONSTRUCTION The Animal Cage Washer, wash chamber and all metal components inside the wash chamber are of stainless steel and are of smooth construction without crevices and ledges for the potential build up of debris and contamination. The Animal Cage Washer load and unload doors are , single or double interlocked hinged door made in stainless steel AISI 316 L with glass inspection window. If the “man on board” safety cable is activated, both loading and unloading doors can be manually opened from within the chamber. In case of activation of any emergency stop switch the loading door it is possible to unlock the loading side door using the key on the switch located on the electrical cabinet. Pneumatic inflatable gasket for the doors. Wash chamber floor consist of heavy-duty stainless steel (2 mm thickness) grating covering the load area. The washer is provided with two oscillating jet system for all treatment solutions, the washing ad the rinsing circuit. The washing circuit is provided with two pre-heating water tanks, one of 320 Lt. for washing phase and one of 220 Lt. for rinsing phase. 2. WASH SYSTEM The washer is provided with independent washing circuit standard equipped with a flush self cleaning filter for the recirculation of the wash water. The water is flushed into the hydraulic circuit by a high performance pump. OSCILLATING SPRAY JET SYSTEM The system consist of machined jets mounted on spray trees. The jets are positioned to reach all cart surfaces including the underside of shelves and base. The oscillating spray jet system is driven with a gearmotor that generate 28 oscillations/minute. The washing spray jet system is provided with 98 nozzles: 14 on the roof and 84 on the lateral spray arms. The washing water is circulated by a washing pump of 5.5 kW and flow 30…84 m3/h.

The pump consists of single-stage centrifugal pumps made of pressed AISI 316 stainless steel. • The liquid sizes and diameters of the suction and delivery ports are in compliance with EN

DRAIN WATER RECOVERING The washer is provided with three water filters (gross, fine filter and extra fine filter) for the water that is recovered into the pre-heating wash tank 1. The gross filter, placed in the bottom of the wash chamber, can remove particles with circular dimensions more than 2 mm.

The fine filter, placed in the bottom of the wash chamber, can remove particles with circular dimensions more than d = 0,9 mm.

\ The extra fine filter, placed in the inlet of the wash tank filling, can remove particles with circular dimensions more than d = 0,5 mm.

\ DRAIN WATER RECOVERY The washing and rinsing water can be recovered on tank 1, thanks to a valves system, from the washing pump. Before to be recovered, the water is filtered by the self-cleaning filter.

4. SOFTWARE SPECIFICATION MULTICYCLE COLOR/GRAPHIC PLC CONTROL SYSTEM A solid-state microcomputer control system monitors and automatically controls all process operations and functions. A sixty-cycle treatment menu may be programmed and retained to permit operating personnel to accommodate a wide variety of loads and processing requirements. Individual cycle phase times and temperatures, and other key process parameters are programmable. Each cycle may be locked in individually by supervision to insure process integrity. Cycle programming may be controlled by a administration access code. If the Strip Chart Printer option is purchased each cycle program may be reviewed and printed on demand. TEMPERATURE ASSURANCE The operator may select to assure the temperatures for each phase of the cycle. If the temperature assurance is selected, the phase does not begin timing until the re-circulated water temperature reaches the set point (up to 85°C). If the re-circulated temperature drops below the set point during phase, the timer stops. The phase timer resets or continues from where it stopped at the user’s option, assuring the proper temperature during entire treatment. When a problem is detected, an alarm will be annunciated visually and audibly to the operator. The temperature sensor is a PT1000 into IEC751 class A accuracy (±0,3°C). The whole temperature measuring system can provide an accuracy better than ±1°C for the measuring point into the chamber. OPERATION At the beginning of the processing period, the operator activates the unit for automatic operation by pressing the power control switch, selecting the desired cycle and presses the “Start” button. The safety feature sequence is activated, the load, unload doors shall be closed, the wash/rinse chamber sump fill and heat, and the hot air dryer is activated. The unit will then automatically advance to the ready state when all of the required operational conditions have been met. The presence of each cart is monitored and the specific chamber door is activated and opened at the end of the cycle. PLC microprocessor for total checking and displaying of single cycle phase highlight the residual time. At the end of the processing period, the unit will stay in the stand-by mode. All unit processing functions will immediately stop and tank maintain the pre-setted temperature for stand-by mode. The unload door remains closed during the standby period. AUTOMATIC PHASE TREATMENT CYCLE The standard treatment cycle consists of a Detergent Wash, Non-Re-circulated Rinse and, if required (as optionals), Thermal disinfection and Drying phase. All cycle phases may be selected or deselected by the user. The cycle, once activated is completely automatic. Sequence of TREATMENTS DETERGENT WASH Hot water from the water supply fill the tank to the required level and detergent is automatically added to the desired concentration. through the oscillating jet system onto the load. The wash solution is maintained in the tank for the following cycle. The wash solution is periodically automatically pumped to drain after completion of a programmed number of wash treatment cycles. Wash phase time and temperature is user programmable from 0…9999 seconds in 1-second intervals and 20…90°C in 0,1°C intervals respectively. The wash phase is operational only when a cart is in position within the wash/rinse section. RINSE Hot water, heated to 85ºC, from rinse water tank flows through the rinse circuit and is sprayed in pressure through the independent rinse spray system to the load. The rinse solution is collected in the sump and by the drain pump (Lowara mod. SHE 32-160/15/A) and the water fill the wash tank 1. The drained rinse water regenerate the water inside the tank 1 by overflowing it to the drain. Rinse phase time is adjustable from 0 – 9999 seconds in 1 second intervals. The rinse phase is only operational when a cart is in position within the wash/rinse chamber. THERMALDISINFECTION (optional) Hot water from thermal disinfection water tank flows through the hot water temperature booster and is heated to 85°C. A rinse agent can be simulta neously added while the solution is sprayed at house supply pressure through the independent rinse spray system on the load. The solution is collected in the sump and re-circulated through the booster. The phase time is adjustable from 0 – 9999 seconds in 1 second intervals and temperature is adjustable from 0–90°C in 0,1°C intervals. The thermal disinfection phase is only operational when a cart is in position within the wash/rinse chamber. DRYING PHASE (optional) Once the cart has advanced into the dryer chamber, heated air is circulated through the chamber to dry all exposed surfaces of the cart. The dry time is not programmable and is a function of the total of the wash, rinse and vapour removal phase time settings. The circulating air temperature is user adjustable between 100ºC and 140°C (depending on steam supply pressure if not electrical elements provided). The dryer is operable during every cycle phase and is not dependent on the presence of a cart in the drying chamber. PERSONNEL SAFETY FEATURES Emergency push/pull stop buttons are provided at all external doors to immediately terminate all processing functions, open all doors and activate all visual and audible alarms. One safety cable is installed inside the washer chamber. If the cable is pulled, operation of the washer is immediately stopped by means of a mechanical safety switch system and the washer try to open the loading door. The unit must be reset by reset the alarm on the touch screen, resetting the mechanical switch. Press the “Start” button to resume operation. All doors are fully closed before a cycle can be initiated. Once all doors are closed, the starting of any cycle make a drain phase for evacuate all water reside and all diagnostic for cycle are activated. All doors can be manually opened from within the chamber. Opening of any door after activation of the cycle start button immediately terminates all treatment functions and activates all emergency alarms. The doors are equipped to detect an obstruction during closing and will automatically open and activate all emergency alarms until the obstruction is removed and the

PRE-HEATING WATER TANKS The washer is equipped with two tanks with steam heating elements to raise the inlet water supply temperature from 50ºC to 85°C. The heating element is inter-piped and inter-wired for automatic operation to supply heated water for the final rinse treatment phase of the cycle.

5. OPTIONAL FEATURES OPTIONAL FEATURE HOT AIR DRYING SYSTEM The carts are exposed to a hot air drying system to assist in the drying of the exposed cart surfaces. The hot air is provided by air heating elements and blower arrangement capable of achieving a chamber temperature of up to 80°C. Electrical air heating elements are two heaters with n.6 resistors 1300 W for each one. The material is Incoloy 800. OPTIONAL FEATURE EXHAUST FAN Washer shall be provided with a stainless steel fan inter-wired with the microprocessor control system to exhaust residual vapours from within the wash chamber. Fan shall be supplied complete with 3 phase, 50 Hz motor and magnetic starter for overload protection. Fan shall be designed to push exhaust a short distance. Fan shall be provided with remote-mounted grease fittings for convenient access. OTHERS OPTIONALS
