1. Remove the panels and clean the front and back of the glass thoroughly.
2. Place the outer frame of the secondary glazing system into the window reveal
(window opening) ensuring it is the correct way around. The outer frame is
labelled with top and bottom to assist with this.
3. Using 5mm packers and a pry bar, lift the bottom of the frame and insert the
packers starting from the centre working outwards, the packers are used to fill the
10mm fitting tolerance around the window and to line the bottom of the
secondary window with the existing window. Space the glazing packers no more
than 100mm from the corners of the frame and no more than 300mm apart.
4. Insert 5mm packers or a suitable sized packer to the sides of the frame to fill the
10mm fitting tolerance. Line the sides of the secondary glazed system up to the
existing primary window.
5. To keep the frame stable, fix the outer frame with one screw to the window
reveal through the side or face of the timber subframe. (when reveal fixing, please
secure the screw through the side, if face fixing, please secure the screw through
the face).
6. Before placing the panels into the outer frame, ensure that both sides of the glass
are thoroughly cleaned. Place the panels the correct way round (rollers to the
bottom).
7. Once the panels are placed into the outer frame, open slightly to see daylight
through the mullion - The vertical bars where the panels meet.
8. Place a pry bar under the subframe, lift the frame under the mullions and
adjust by either lifting or lowering the outer frame to suit, pay careful attention to
ensure the panels are parallel with each other, no daylight should be visible where
the panels interlock or meet the outer frame.
9. When the mullions are parallel, insert suitable sized packers under the outer frame
to fill any gap. The panels should now run parallel to the outer frame.
10. Check that the panels slide smoothly and interlock with each other.
11. Check that the panels lock into the outer frame with the spring clip handles.
12. The frame can now be permanently secured into place with fixing screws.
13. If face fixing* secure the outer frame through the pre-drilled holes to the face
(front) of the timber subframe.
14. If reveal fixing* secure the outer frame through the pre-drilled holes to the side of
the timber subframe.
15. Fill the gap between the outer frame and the window reveal with sealant.
16. All windows are supplied with a cover trim, this should be bonded into place with
a sealant to cover all the glazing packers around the perimeter of the window, this
creates a neat finish where the windows can be cleaned with a solvent solution
and glass cleaner.
17. Finally, seal the perimeter of the finishing trim with either decorator’s caulk or
silicone sealant to suit the surrounding decor.

Operating Instructions
To open the panels the spring clip handle must be released, and this will then allow the panels to slide freely in the tracks.
Take care not to slam the panels or push them too fast. To open and close the panels a smooth and even movement is recommended.
It is advised to use two hands to move the panels. This will ensure the panels slide smoothly and do not foul in the track.
To close and secure the panels, slide the panels to the closed position. Ensure the spring clip handles are located correctly onto the outerframe.
To remove the panels from the outer frame lift the panel up into the head and lift forward to clear the bottom of the outerframe. Reverse the procedure to replace the panel into the outerframe.
Take care when lifting the panels out of the frame as these can be heavy.

Maintenance
There are no special maintenance requirements other than periodic cleaning as all moving parts are factory sealed with lubricant before assembly.
Environmental issues will dictate the cleaning cycle, i.e. location, weather, traffic etc. and should consist of washing down the glass and aluminium frames with a non-alkaline detergent in warm water using a soft cloth or a sponge.
Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, strong acids or alkalis. After cleaning, it is advisable to rinse the surface with clean water and wipe dry.
Chips or scratches in the paint finish can be touched up by using a nitro cellulose lacquer paint, but care must be taken to prevent paint from getting into draught seals or moving parts.

A LOW-RISK LIFT for a person of average strength and build is considered to be a maximum of 25kg. If you are in any doubt, look to reduce the risk by asking someone to share the lift with
you or your client, particularly if you or the client are in a higher risk group e.g. Elderly, Disabled, Pregnant or Young. Refer to http://www.hse.gov.uk/msd/mad/index.htm for further help.
Important Note! Maximum sizes are for width OR height, not combined i.e. Do not exceed the maximum panel weight.
On Application - Windows in this area are beyond our maximum size limit. However, we may
be able to make the windows but we will not offer any guarantee of performance and will
accept your order solely on this basis. Alternatively, please redesign the window to comply
with the recommended sizes to benefit from the full product warranty.

13. Points to note for any Large Frame
• Can you get it in the building, up the stairs etc.?
• Can it be operated safely i.e. Is there room to open a large Hinged Unit?
• Should it be fixed and only operable by maintenance?

Granada Secondary Glazed windows have been tested at Chiltern Dynamics in accordance with BS EN ISO 10140-2:
‘Laboratory measurement of airborne sound insulation of building elements’. The table shows results for
secondary windows set at a 200mm and 150mm cavity with 4mm or 6mm float glass in the primary window.
Chiltern’s Dynamics lab is UKAS Accredited No.1762
