• At this point, I used magnets to stick 7 leaves to the board
• As a class, we made them into a fraction (3/7 of the leaves are orange)

What Went Well
• Students loved having their own set of manipulatives
• Students could visually see the fraction

What Didn’t Go Well• The activity was looking at pictures
and writing a fraction, while the assessment was making pictures when given a fraction- opposites! (assess what was taught next time!)
• Wasn’t as good on the Promethean Board as I wanted to be (Practice next time!)

Principles of Effective Technology Integration1. Student Use of Technology: Effective
technology integration typically involves students (as opposed to just the teacher) in actively using the technology.
Didn’t meet this one- students should have used the Promethean Board- not just teacher
2. Technology Use is Essential: Effective technology integration is essential not peripheral to the learning activity.
It was essential to make sure all students could see the detailed fraction images in the book I scanned pages from

Principles of Effective Technology Integration
1. Focus on Learning Task: Effective technology integration focuses on the learning task and not the technology.
1. Success! The Promethean Board was not the focus- it was the helper!
2. Added Value: Effective technology integration facilitates learning activitiesthat would be more difficult or impossible without the technology.
1. It would have been harder (if not impossible) for all students to see the fraction pictures without the Promethean Board
