April 2013 1 Using a 3G/4G Broadband Connection with the Envoy Communications Gateway If an installation does not have a high speed Internet connection, you can use a 3G/4G broadband connection to allow the Envoy ® Communications Gateway™ to download the necessary updates and communicate with the Enlighten ® web-based software. You can use this solution at sites that do not have a high speed Internet connection or where a broadband connection will not be used for system monitoring. Required Equipment The equipment required to connect an Envoy to a 3G/4G data network includes the following: ZOOM Travel Router with Wireless-N (model 4506). ZOOM USB mobile broadband modem (unlocked). 3G/4G SIM data only ready-to-go, unlocked (1 GB). These products can be purchased via amazon.co.uk. Using a 3G/4G Broadband Connection with the Envoy Communications Gateway

If an installation does not have a high speed Internet connection, you can use a 3G/4G broadband connection to allow the Envoy® Communications Gateway™ to download the necessary updates and communicate with the Enlighten® web-based software.

You can use this solution at sites that do not have a high speed Internet connection or where a broadband connection will not be used for system monitoring.

How to Set Up the Zoom Network 1. Insert the 3G/4G SIM card into the ZOOM USB broadband modem. 2. Plug the ZOOM USB modem into the USB port on the ZOOM wireless router. 3. Connect your computer or smart phone to the ZOOM Wi-Fi network. 4. Open a web browser and enter http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar. 5. Log into Zoom administration. (Password, by default, is “admin”.) 6. Click the Wizard tab at the top of the page. 7. Follow the Wizard setup using the options below:

8. Click Save. 9. In the Setup Wizard Summary, confirm the information is correct. 10. Check the following boxes:

• “Do you want to proceed with the network testing?” • “The Ethernet Port will be used as a LAN Port after saving. Confirm?”

11. Click Apply Settings. 12. Wait 10 seconds for a confirmation of a positive connection to the cellular network. The unit will

reboot with the new settings. 13. Connect the Envoy to the router via the RJ-45 cable and wait for “+Web” to display.

Once a +Web connection is made, the Envoy begins the software update. Do not unplug the Envoy during this process.

Additional Information Another advantage of using this method for setup is that it allows access to the Envoy local interface through the wireless network provided, thus eliminating the need of a laptop on site.
