• Sub-species of the Zebra• Front half - stripes like that of a Zebra• Mid-Section - stripes becoming larger
and fading• Rump-Section – plain brown• At birth: cream white with faint
stripes• Bright Copper-Gold Eyes• Short Neck• Long Legs• Curved Body
General Information
• Desert area
• South Africa : Cape Town, Orange Free State (Kalahari Desert)
• Hunted for hide, meat, and food for domesticated animals
• Lived in small herds (10-15)
• Older Quaggas protect herd
• Younger Quagga search for food and water
• Ate: grass, mil’no plants, cacti, desert lichens, leaves of nearby trees.
