Goal: Write one team statement (on a sentence strip) that captures the essence of the video. To us this video really said…
1. Think time2. Pair Discussion3. Individual Write4. Team Discussion5. Consensus and Share
(write on sentence strip)
• Move around the room with your team to discuss each statement.
• Leave a note of positive specific feedback on the statement. (post-its)
• Choose 2 statements for awards. Be able to explain criteria for each award.•You may not choose your own!• Total time = 15 minutes
1. Plan a cooperative activity…– Must include content (easy!) and an
objective– Does not need to be a full lesson– Teach the structures’ steps as well as the
content2. Include at least two cooperative
structures in the activity.3. One of the two structures must be a
new mastery or thinking skills structure (see 6:24).
4. Bring everything you need to teach your activity to four classmates.
1. Move around the room asking only yes and no questions.
2. You may only ask two questions per person. Thank the person and move on.
3. Once you determine your person, become a “consultant” and help others.
CLASS CHALLENGE: In 10 minutes, can everyone determine
the name of the famous person/character on his/her back?
HINT: characters derive from history, politics, and pop culture.
CLASS GOAL: Work cooperatively to form one link (circle). The link is formed by finding similarities in
the class.1. The first person states something about his/her character.
2. Any person whose character has that similar characteristic may “link” by moving next to the first person and explaining the similarity.
3. Next, the second person states another characteristic and the process continues.
4. The last person links back to the first person to form a circle.
• Celebrate the individual differences among teammates.
• Integrate teambuilding and math content.
• Complete a team project.
1.Individually complete the “What Do You Value?” form by rank ordering the values. 10 = Most 1 = Least
3. Share individual graphs using Simultaneous Roundtable structure.
4. Construct a team bar graph using all of the team data. Decide roles and be sure all members have a job.
5. Be ready to use the Stand and Share structure.

2. Construct a simple bar graph on the graph paper.
• Provides a structured natural approach to teaching social skills through a content activity.
• Need: Paper and 4 different colored crayons
1. Each person takes a piece of paper and, without looking, draws a house.
2. Pass your drawing to the left in simultaneous roundtable structure.
3. Roundtable praise the picture you now have.
4. Repeat process (pass, praise, draw).
• Cliff and waves• 2 sea creatures• 2 sea gulls• Fireworks and 2 sea vessels
1. Number off #1-42. Number 1: Explain several of your
hobbies and interests.3. Use a quick brainstorm to
determine an embellished and exotic title for Number 1.
4. Teammate on left records title on the back of the Number 1’s nameplate.
5. Repeat process for each teammate. Approximately 15 minutes total.
