Characteristics Of Effective Team

1. Clear Purpose : Members understand and are fullycommitted to the vision, mission, goals, and objectives ofthe team.

2. Open Communication/Participation: There is muchdiscussion and everyone is encouraged to participate. :Team members feel free to express their feelings on thetasks as well as on the group's operation.

3. Informality : The climate tends to be informal,comfortable and relaxed. There are no obvious tensions orsigns of boredom.

4. ConstructiveConflict : If there is disagreement, the team mustbe comfortable with this and show no signs of avoiding, smoothingover or suppressing conflict.

5. Consensus Decision Making : For important decisions, thegoal is substantial but not necessarily unanimous agreementthrough open discussion of everyone's ideas, avoidance of formalvoting or easy compromises.

6. Experimentation and Creativity.Well functioning teams encourage creativity and risk taking andexperiment with different ways of doing things. Ineffective teamsoften are bureaucratic, low risk and rigid.
