What is Public Health 101? It is a General Education course in
Social and Behavioral Sciences.Usually taken by undergrads in first 60
credit hours.
Where are we with PH-101?Syllabus developed, course approved (3
credit hours)
Starts this Fall (August!), Tues & Thurs 08:00-09:15
Text has changed, need course and class plans
Why integrate the two? It’s an ideal opportunity for discussions of
teaching and learning using an example. Our example: implementing Public Health 101
Presenting public health in an integrated approach Class plans using existing and innovative T&L
techniques and toolsCourse plans using existing technologySimply put: Let’s get PH-101 done!
What better way to begin our discussions on teaching and learning than using T&L techniques as in integral part of the discussion?

Public Health 101 Working GroupMeets 1st Monday of each month to review and planSubgroups develop implementation plans for sections of
the courseSubgroups present plans in workshops
Teaching & Learning Workshop Planning GroupMeets 2nd Thursday of each month to review and planPlans and promotes workshops with External Affairs
Integrated Teaching & Learning WorkshopsHeld 4th Friday of each month through OctoberFirst part: Presentation of section of course
Updates of previously presented sectionsSecond part: Presentation of T&L techniques and ideas

subgroup chaired by a member of the Working Group
