Brainstorm at least ten words with the long a (ai, ay, a_e, a) sound in them. You can listen to the sound of the week by clicking on “sound info kit”. Read your spelling list words for the week. Complete Sound Waves activities 1 & 2 on page 30. Reading Choose a book that you enjoy reading, this might be a book that you have at home or a book on Wushka. Year 2: This week you will be learning about an addition strategy that uses your knowledge of place value. Today’s lesson will be place value revision and an introduction to the split strategy. Complete the 2 digit place value sheet as a warm up. Next, get a dice or use the dice net attached below and roll it three times to make a three digit number. Record this number in your maths book and draw the blocks you would use to build the number next to it. E.g. If I rolled 3, 2 and 6 I would write 326 and draw 3 hundreds, 2 tens and 6 ones blocks next to it. Repeat this for 5 different 3 digit numbers you roll.

Creative Arts Music: Percussion instruments are instruments such as drums, cymbals and chimes. You can create percussion beats and rhythms using your body. Next, look around your house for items that could make up the percussion section of an orchestra, e.g. a pot and a wooden spoon. Find two-three items that could be percussion instruments. History Write a list of meals that your family likes to eat for dinner under a heading FOOD IN THE PRESENT. Underneath your list draw a plate with your favourite meal on it. Draw the appliances in your kitchen that are used for cooking and cooling food. Write down who does the cooking in your house.

Gross Motor: Ball Skills

Throwing & Catching - With a partner, practise throwing and catching a ball. The aim is to throw and catch the ball 10 times in a row without dropping it. If you do that then you can take a step backwards. If you don’t have a partner, throw it up in the air and catch it by yourself. Count how many you can do before you drop the ball.

Bouncing a ball - practise bouncing a basketball to another person (if possible) or against a wall. The aim is to bounce the ball and catch it, 10 times in a row without missing it. If you do that then you can take a step backwards.
