Dear 4K-5 Teachers,
The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame is ready to kickoff 2016 with the 6th annual “Tundra Tales” at-home reading program for students in grades 4K-5. The “Tundra Tales” program is meant to develop lifelong reading habits by encouraging children to read at home. Students will be able to read their way to scoring a Hall of Fame pass for 1 child and 1 adult to the brand new Packers Hall of Fame! We realize you are busy, so we tried to develop a program that is teacher friendly.
All students in grades 4K-5 are invited to participate in “Tundra Tales”. The program will run from January 4, 2016 - March 6, 2016. Students must read or be read to for 60 minutes per week outside of the school day for 8 weeks, (a TOTAL of 480 minutes). An extra week to achieve the goal has been added to accommodate school schedules and winter breaks. Students who achieve the goal will be able to score a Hall of Fame pass for 1 child and 1 adult.
This year we tried to simplify registration by providing a registration form to fill out and return to me: [email protected]. Tundra Tale registration will end December 18, 2015. Upon returning from holiday break your students will be ready to go.
Parents/guardians are the record keepers and will sign the tracking sheet upon completion. The tracking sheets are to be returned to you by Wednesday, March 9, 2016. You will e-mail me the number of students who achieved their goal by Monday, March 14, 2016. I will mail prize vouchers to you for distribution to the students.
All of the information you will need can be found at www.packers.com. Click on “Lambeau Field”. Once on the “Lambeau Field” page please click on “Packers Hall of Fame”, and then click on “Tundra Tales”. There you will find a tracking sheet that you may copy for your students, a parent/guardian letter you may use, and general information.
We are very excited about promoting reading through “Tundra Tales”. As Coach Vince Lombardi stated, “There’s only one way to succeed in anything, and that is to give it everything!” We hope you and your students take this opportunity to score by reading, reading, reading!
