DIRECTIONS to WORKSHOP VENUE Roma Eventi – Fontana di Trevi Conference Center Piazza della Pilotta, 4, 00187, Roma

The Roma Eventi Conference center is located in a very central area of Rome, right by the Trevi Fountain. The nearest metro stop to the conference center is Barberini / Fontana di Trevi. From this station, walk in the direction of Via del Tritone and, from here, follow the directions to the Trevi Fountain (Fontana of Trevi); once you have reached the Trevi Fountain, continue on for 100m in Via de' Lucchesi, which leads into Piazza della Pilotta (the Conference Centre is on your left): about 800m.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN ROME Tickets for both the bus system and Metro can be purchased from tobacconists, bars, or vending machines at Metro stations and major bus stops. Tickets needs validating upon boarding or entering the Metro station. Ticket options:

• B.I.T. standard ticket, valid for one Metro ride or 100 minutes on all buses allowing transfers. €1.50

• 24/48/72 hour ticket - valid for unlimited metro, bus, and train travel within Rome for 24 hours from validation. €7/€12.50/€18

• At the vending machines, it’s only possible to pay with cash.

Be aware of people at the metro stations trying to “help” you at the vending machines. They tell you that they have a ticket for you so you don’t have to deal with the vending machines, but these tickets have oftentimes already been validated and so they are no longer valid.

FUN THINGS TO DO History is everywhere in Rome, literally. These are some places you might want to visit.

Colosseum (16 min walk from Roma Eventi) The Colosseum is one of the most famous landmarks in Rome. If you are planning on visiting, keep the following in mind:

• One ticket gives you entry into the Colosseum, the Forum Romanum and Palatine Hill, and is valid for 2 consecutive days.

• The Colosseum, Forum Romanum and Palatine Hill close around 19.15 daily. • It’s highly recommended to purchase a ticket online in advance. There are several options, for

example www.colosseum-rome-tickets.com. If you have limited time in Rome, it might be worth to pay a little bit extra for a skip-the-line ticket. In that case a representative will take you into the Colosseum at a designated time.

• If you did not purchase tickets online, the best place to purchase them without having a long wait is the ticket office at Palatine Hill, Via di San Gregorio.

Trevi Fountain (right at your doorstep!) Vatican & Sistine Chapel (45 minute walk from Roma Eventi) • Or Bus #46 from Piazza Venezia to Piazza Stazione S. Pietro (13 minutes) • Again, like at the Colosseum, the lines for entering will be long. It will be worth it to book a

ticket in advance, and possibly buy a fast track ticket where you’ll be escorted into the museum, e.g. through www.getyourguide.com. (this is a company we used before and they were very good). In case you book the fast track entry, make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes early.

• The Vatican Museums are open until 18.00 (last entry 16.00), extra on Friday night until 23.00 (last entry 21.30). Closed on Sundays.

• No shorts, bare shoulders, hats and large backpacks allowed inside.

Pantheon (10 minute walk from Roma Eventi) • A striking 2000-year-old temple, now a church, the Pantheon is the best preserved of Rome’s

ancient monuments with the largest unreinforced concrete dome ever built. • Piazza della Rotonda, 00186, Roma • http://www.pantheonroma.com/en/

Spanish Steps (10-minute walk from Roma Eventi) Trastevere Food tour • https://www.civitatis.com/en/rome/trastevere-food-tour/ • Trastevere is known as Rome’s most bohemian neighborhoods. Explore this area with an English

speaking guide, and some delicious food and wine.
