Food in Norway

Norway are famous for oil, fish (Norwegian salmon), Northern lights, mountains and fjords.

Norway celebrates the Norwegian constitution day on the 17 th of May. We have parades where all school children march with marching band music.

In front of the Royal palace in Oslo.

Children play different games and have fun.

The Norwegian school system.Compulsory primary and lower secondary schooling in Norway lasts for ten years and children start school the year they become six. Primary and lower secondary education is founded on the principle of equity and adapted education for all pupils in a school system based on the same National Curriculum. All children and young people are to share a common foundation of knowledge, culture and values. After the 10 compulsory school years for Norwegian children and they also have a right to attend 3 more years at school, higher secondary school. This is compulsory if you want to go on to higher education. Most Norwegian schools are municipal, and up inntil 2006 there were hardly any private schools.

In Norway schools do not serve hot meals at school. The children bring their packed lunch called 'matpakke'.

Moss Moss is a small town (there are 30000 inhabitants) in the south east of Norway. It is situated 60 kilometers south of Oslo. Parts of the city is situated on an island called Jeløya. This is where our school is.

In Moss we have 50 beaches and 100 sculptures, and we have several galleries and arenas for music and theatre.

Up untill 2000 Moss was a industrial city that produced paper, glass, locks and metall. But during the decades most of the industrial companies have closed down or moved out to low cost countries.

Ramberg skole is a Norwegian primary school with 400 pupils in year 1-7, age 6-12.

Ramberg skoleThere are 25 teachers at our school.

There are about 60 pupils in each year. The two first years they are in two rooms with two teachers and 30 pupils. From year 3 they are together in a large classroom with 3 teachers. This makes our school different from most schools in Norway.

At Ramberg skole we try to use the nature and outdoors surrouding us when we teach.
