We held our first School Mass last weekend. It was fantastic to see most of our students on Sunday. It was also a great opportunity to see our students in our updated polo top and navy shorts/skorts uniform. It was lovely to see everyone over at school afterwards for morning tea. We are proud of our Catholic faith and our Sunday School Mass is very important to us as a Catholic Community. We are aiming to have a whole school turnout at our next School Mass and morning tea. We believe this is possible if everyone chooses to put it first. The children will be singing and have the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and other commitments on the day. FAITH FACTS

15-19 Mar

Friday is St Joseph’s feast day. Joseph was a compassionate caring man, who did everything he could to keep his family safe. He is remembered for his willingness to follow God’s commands and the way he put his family first.

The image of an accepting father is portrayed by Pope Francis when he discusses St Joseph:“Joseph appears as the figure of a respectful and sensitive man. Even though he does not understand the bigger picture, he makes a decision to protect Mary’s good name, her dignity and her life...Often in life, things happen whose meaning we do not understand. Our first reaction is frequently one of disappointment and rebellion. Joseph set aside his own ideas in order to accept the course of events and, mysterious as they seemed, to embrace them, take responsibility for them and make them part of his own history...The spiritual path that Joseph traces for us is not one that explains, but accepts.”

SWIMMING SPORTS AND

ST. PATRICK’S DAY:

A fabulous day was had by all who attended our rural schools’ swimming

sports on Tuesday 9th March. The weather was bright and sunny, adding to

the carnival atmosphere with the Makikihi, Waituna Creek and Waihao Downs schools. Many thanks to the

parents who came and supported the children in many ways. The competition was strong and the children enjoyed it.

Congratulations to Lila who qualified for the district swimming sports!

St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated on March 17th with everyone delightfully

dressed up in green, and a mostly green food shared lunch. We had a special

Mass with Father Do and the parish. The children learned about St. Patrick’s life

and works in Ireland.

My favourite bit of swimming was when me and Louis tied for first place and before it we were talking about what would happen if we did. I jumped for joy! By Pagan

Our schools’ outing the swimming sports was amazing. We did swimming on our backs, swimming on our front and swimming on our front with a float board. Before we started swimming we did some dancing in the water. When it was time to get dressed a girl from a different school got my school shirt. The good thing was that she checked her bag. My favourite part was when I went first place and had fun swimming. By Teresa

When I was walking down to swimming sports with my friends I was nervous and excited. When we got there I was up first to do free style. I didn’t do that well but I liked cheering on my friends and playing with balls. By Axyl

On March 9, we went to the public swimming pool for swimming sports. Since the juniors (yr1 to 4) weren’t coming we had to partner up with the people in our class. Some of us were nervous and some not. I myself was nervous but still did it anyway. It was a successful day for all of us, but the most important part was that we all had fun. By Mary
