Teacher Enrichment Grant GuidelinesPURPOSE: To provide assistance to music teachers for private study, specific

college-level course work or other projects that will enhance the performing and

teaching skills of the applicant.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND FUNDING RULES:

 Applicant must be actively teaching at the time of application.

 Applicant may apply for funding for  only one project per year. Request for 

funding to study privately and also attend a seminar would be considered two

projects.

Beginning date for the project must be after July 1, 2014, and project should be

completed by June 30, 2015.

Grant may be used for private study, college-level course work or special

projects in performance, pedagogy, music theory, composition and so on.

The grant is not intended to be used to pursue course work toward a degree

nor for ongoing projects. Grant applications for assistance with commercial

ventures or projects that could be funded by an employer are not encouraged.

Note: Some examples of recent applications funded include private study with

recognized teachers, course work in preparation for MTNA Certification, workshops,

and master classes and seminars for the enhancement of teaching skills. Preference

will be given to those whose primary source of income is independent teaching.

 Applicant may apply for a grant in the amount of $250, $500, $750 or $1,000.

 A budget must be submitted with the application indicating anticipated use of 

the funds. The grant will be for a period of not more than one year and may be

approved for one additional year at the discretion of the Teacher Enrichment

Grant Committee. Individuals seeking a grant renewal must submit another 

application to the committee for consideration. This application must include a

copy of the Teacher Enrichment Grant Evaluation Form that was returned to

the Foundation Fund following completion of the project for which the applicant

is seeking renewal.

The number of grants awarded in any year will be determined by the number of 

qualified applicants and the available funds. All decisions of the Teacher 

Enrichment Grant Committee are final.

Application Process:

Complete all sections of the application form and provide all attachments as

requested in the form.

Submission Deadline: January 3, 2014. Incomplete applications will not be

processed.

Confirmation of receipt of application and attachments will be e-mailed to the

applicant from the MTNA FOUNDATION FUND.

Grant recipients will be notified of the results via U.S. Mail or e-mail within one

The following information should be detailed in one document (Word or PDF) to

be uploaded:

 A letter stating why you are requesting this grant and how your proposal will

enhance your teaching or performing

 A budget detailing the proposed use of the grant funds

 A brief statement of your studio policy (one page max)

 A brief listing of your professional music-related activities and offices held (e.g.

community arts council, professional associations and so on)
