Township Entrepreneurs Alliance - #TEA The Township Entrepreneurs Alliance was developed out of a need to develop and grow township entrepreneurs so that they have long lasting and profitable businesses that will create employment. TEA was established in 2015 by Bulelani Balabala a young entrepreneur & speaker who has been awarded best corporate citizen by the mayor of Ekurhuleni and is currently incubated at Raizcorp. Township Entrepreneur’s Alliance #TEA seeks to be a platform where entrepreneurs can access opportunities for mentorship, funding and financing. Bulelani Balabala is the owner of Intercessor Army Franchising which is a Branding Agency that has been operating from Tembisa for 9years and has created employment for 10 young people, you can read more about him on his website www.bulelani.co.za. TEA is for all townships across South Africa and aimed at the development of black entrepreneurs. TEA is about giving people an opportunity in life. TEA is the platform that we will be making available to entrepreneur’s to network, learn business strategies and be inspired by other entrepreneur’s success stories. They will also get strategic advise from industry expert on how to grow their businesses.

Vision We want to help connect, develop & grow township entrepreneurs to run sustainable businesses.

Mission We want to create a network of entrepreneurs who will pour their expertise into developing other entrepreneurs so that we build a hub of businesses that will supply each other and keep all services and products local. We want to be in every township within South Africa. We want to create a township economy. There are a lot of informal businesses in the Township so the call to action is to develop the entrepreneur so that his knowledge can be poured onto the business to ensure that growth is eminent. Through TEA entrepreneur and aspiring entrepreneurs will be given an opportunity to pitch and fine tune their ideas and concepts.

Core Elements The tea events are driven by the power to connect, develop & grow entrepreneurs. This is how we break down the three main elements that are TEA. Connect - This speaks to networking, the moment possibility meets opportunity Develop - This will come through the strategy talks that will happen at the event and further

developmental training that will be provided by a sponsor. We will also be running a mentorship programme through the SLEF which will help guide the entrepreneur. And also ensuring that they run a fully systemised business.

Grow - Our definition of growth is Profitability. Creating employment for other people, impacting the local economy.

The 4 main things that happen at these events is the following: - Pitching your business which will only be open to 5 entrepreneurs with the winner receiving a price and all of them being assisted with fine tuning their pitches. The selection of the winning pitches will be done by mean of the attendees voting for the best pitch and developmental advice will be given to all other pitchers on how they can better their pitch by a Sales expert.

- Strategic Talk / Workshop, This will deal with the business development & educating them on running their businesses. - Link – Networking segment where everyone gets to engage and talk - The Journey – inspirational talk that is aimed at getting the Entrepreneurs charged up.
