Tautāne Station Tuatāne is widely recognised as one of the North Island’s
most iconic stations and is one of the last original stations still operating in Hawke’s Bay.
The 3860 hectare farm is leased by Masterton based agricultural college Taratahi, an initiative set up by the Ministry of Primary Industries to foster the development of young farmers.
This purchase is a significant step in the journey to establish a new brand of beef and lamb in New Zealand, which will deliver high value to the market and return profits back to our farmers.
In 2007 the Kahungunu Asset Holding Company (KAHC) entered into a five-by-five share purchase and quota lease agreement with Fiordland Lobster Company in return for guaranteed access to our quota.
As a result of that agreement, we have received record annual quota lease and dividend yields, and seen the FLC’s share price increase by 500 percent.
KAHC is the 4th largest shareholder of the Fiordland Lobster Company and only iwi shareholder.
In 2016 the Kahungunu Asset Holding Company purchased the refurbished East Tamaki crayfish holding depot of Fiordland Lobster Company (FLC) in Auckland and entered into a long term lease to FLC.
In 2016 the Kahungunu Asset Holding Company entered into a 50/50 joint venture with Hawkes Bay Seafoods to purchase the Iwi’s first fishing trawler “Kewa”.

• First Crown Iwi Economic Taumata was held in May this year.
• Issues raised with the Crown:
– Drivers Licenses in Schools.
– Involvement of Iwi in all Free Trade Agreements and Trade Missions.
So what's happened since then …………?
HAWKE'S BAY TODAY
Driving skills taught in schools encouraged Hurdles could be removed from the complex process of getting a drivers
license by incorporating this more in schools.
This is the message from a recent Local Government New Zealand remit,
which means they will be advocating to the government in support of the
implementation of a free and all-inclusive universal drivers licence
programme for all students at NCEA level two.
The remit was supported at their recent annual conference, and was
seconded by Central Hawke's Bay District Council.

Passport for Life
• Budget 2017: $4 million to help equip Māori youth • Māori Development Minister Te Ururoa Flavell says a new $4 million pilot initiative he
announced today as part of Budget 2017 will help young Māori obtain essential documents to help set them up for their futures.
• “Successful young Māori have a significant impact on the country’s social and economic success and we want to give them all a chance to share in the opportunities that are out there,” says Mr Flavell.
• The initiative, Passport to Life – Taiohi Ararau, will assist taiohi aged 15-24 to get all-important credentials for life.
• “We want our young people to participate fully in society and this funding will help them to do that ensuring they have the documentation and certification they need.
• “Some don’t have photo identification, a bank account, driver’s licence or an IRD number which can all be barriers to our young people entering the workforce, education or training.
• “I also expect to make a further significant announcement around this initiative in the coming weeks,” says Mr Flavell.
