Friendship Dam earlier

Public Grievances and
Pensions Shri Jitendra
Singh awarded the
Certificates of
Appreciation to the
Ministries and
Departments based on their
performance in the
Centralized Public
Grievance Redress and
Monitoring System
(CPGRAMS) at New Delhi
today. Speaking on the
occasion, Shri Singh said
the number of grievances
received have increased in
the last two years.
He added it is an indication
of increasing faith of the
citizens in the grievance
redressal mechanism. He
said that he himself and the
senior officers of
Department of
Administrative Reforms
and Public Grievances
have been personally
calling the people whose
grievances have been
redressed. These calls are
made at random to the
citizens to take feedback
from them and to ascertain
their satisfaction level. The
CPGRAMS is an online
web enabled application to
facilitate speedy redressal
of public grievances as it
allows for online lodging
Certificates of Appreciation awarded to Ministries and
Departments based on performance in CPGRAMSand status tracking of
grievances by the citizens.

being used for registration

the office of STS Unit
Ferrargunj. The Secretary
(Transport) will inaugurate
the implementation of
'VAHAN and SARATHI'
softwares on June 3, 2016
at STS Unit Ferrargunj.
At present 'VAHAN' and
'SARATHI' softwares are
being used only in Port
Blair and the residents of
Ferrargunj Tehsil have to
come to Port Blair for
digitization of personal
data required for obtaining
driving licenses like
capturing of photographs,
electronic signature, thumb
impression etc. With the
Implementation of two softwares for
benefit of people of Ferrargunj areaimplementation of 'VAHAN
and SARATHI' softwares
in Ferrargunj, the residents
of the area can now avail
the service at Ferrargunj
itself and driving license
can be issued in smart card
mode without visiting Port
Blair. All other activities like
payment of Road tax,
fitness inspection fee,
learner's license, driving
license etc. will be carried
out through the
computerized software at
Ferrargunj itself, a
communication from the
Secretary (STA) said here
today.

celebration started with the
pledge taking ceremony by

After the pledge taking
ceremony, all the staff
members took part in
cleanliness drive in and
around the Institute
premises. On May 25, an
awareness programme on
clean/green farming was
organised at Lal Pahar
village of Chouldari Gram

training sessions at different venuesPort Blair, June 2
To celebrate 2nd International Yoga Day in a befitting
manner on June 21, 2016, a training session will be
conducted on common Yoga protocol from June 10 to 20
by Department of Education, A&N Administration in
coordination with AYUSH Hospital, Port Blair at different
venues. All interested students, NCC Cadets, scouts and
guides, govt officials and general public have been
requested to attend the training session at the nearest
venue. Accordingly, the venues for the training sessions
will be JNRM Auditorium, Multipurpose hall Netaji
Stadium, TGCE Auditorium, Multipurpose Hall -DBRAIT
and MGGC Auditorium, Mayabunder.
The timing for assembly will be 5.45 am while the training
session will be held from 6 am to 7 am. The main function will
be held from 7 to 8 am at these venues on June 21, 2016.

hail from different countries they
no longer call home. Popole
Misenga and Yolande Mabika,
both judo athletes from Congo,
are two of those competing for
spots on the refugee squad.This
week, the two hopefuls will find
out whether they get the berth.
The International Olympic
Committee is expected to name
members of the Refugee Olympic
Team on Friday. Officials say they
have identified 43 athletes who could

Government has said the
minimum addition of nine
square metres of carpet
area to the existing house
will be mandatory for being
eligible for central
assistance under a
component of Prime
Minister' Awas Yojana
(Urban) scheme. The new
guidelines also mandate
that after adding the
required nine square metre
carpet area, total carpet
area should not be less
than 21 square metre and
must not be more than 30
square metre.
Housing and Urban
Poverty Alleviation
Ministry, in a release said,
the minimum addition of
carpet area to the existing
pucca or semi-pucca house
shall now be ensured for
being eligible for Central
assistance of 1.50 lakh
rupees per beneficiary. The
Ministry has issued these
guidelines to States and
Union territories for
compliance while sending
affordable housing
proposals for
enhancement of existing
houses.

He also added that, base line survey of the Lal Pahar
and Bachra Pahar village will be undertaken by the
institute and accordingly various technological
interventions will be initiated by the Scientists. He urged
the farmers to adopt the concept of green farming by
converting the agricultural waste into compost.
Shri. Mohan Haldar, Pradhan thanked ICAR-CIARI for
selecting the Lal Pahar village under the SBM programme
and requested the Director to include Bachra Pahar
village also. He informed that there are lot of scope for
technological intervention in the areas such as field
crops mainly paddy cultivation, plantation crops,
fisheries and poultry farming.
Shri. Asim Baidya, Up-Pradhan expressed his gratitude
to the CIARI for implementation of clean and green
farming in the Lal Pahar and Bachra Pahar village and
assured fullest cooperation in successful
implementation of the programme. Dr. B. Gangaiah, Dr.
R.K. Gautam, Dr. R. Kirubasankar, Dr. Nagesh Ram also
delivered talks on the clean and green farming concept.
Dr. A. Velmurgan and Dr. T.P. Swarnam demonstrated
the vermicompost technology and preparation of
compost by using the agricultural wastes, leaves, etc.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Pakhwara concluded with
the valedictory function held at CIARI on May 31
wherein, Shri. Rishikesh Sinha, Sr Scientific Officer &
Nodal Officer, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, DST, delivered
a talk on "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: Role of Community".
The whole programme was conducted under the
Chairmanship of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, ICAR-CIARI
and coordinated by Dr. Jai Sunder, Nodal Officer, SBM,
ICAR-CIARI.

The National Film Archive
of India yesterday acquired
1,790 songbooks of Hindi
films belonging to every
decade of the country's
cinematic heritage.
Songbooks starting from
1934 to 2012 acquired by
NFAI represent the journey
of Hindi film industry in the
country. These booklets
give a peek into a long
forgotten era and are also
an indicator of changing
printing technology as did
the artwork. It is notable
that these songbooks
contain not only the full
lyrics of songs in multiple
languages, but are also a
treasure trove of
information about the film
itself, including the cast,
credits and storyline. NFAI
has appealed to the public
to come forward with rare,
archival material that will help
in conserving India's
heritage, under the umbrella
project of National Film
Heritage Mission.

vehicle ferry vessel MVF
Austin-V & MVF Austin-
III will be available in the
above station to provide
uninterrupted connectivity.
All efforts will be made by
the Directorate of Shipping
Services to make the vessel
MVF Austin-IV, operational
on top priority, a
communication from the Dy.

unknown patient aged
about 50 years who had
been admitted in GB Pant
Hospital had expired on
May 26 during his
treatment. His descriptive
rolls are height 5 feet 7
inch, hair black & white,
complexion brown, body
thin, identification mark is
a mole below left eye.
Since no relative has come
forward to claim the dead
body, it has been kept in the
cold mortuary of GB Pant
Hospital for information of
general public, a
communication from the
Superintendent of Police,
South Andaman District
said here today.

involved in timely departure of vessel but also cause
inconvenience to the other passengers.
The Port Authority also raised serious
concerns about the late approach of passengers which
may invite serious security lapses. In view of this, the
Directorate of Shipping Services has asked passengers
to adhere to the specified embarkation time and report
to the embarkation point, 2 Hrs prior to the scheduled
sailing time of the vessel. All the process regarding
embarkation shall be completed half an hour prior to the
scheduled sailing time in respect of Mainland and Inter
Island vessel and 15 minutes in respect of foreshore
sector vessel. Passenger approaching after the above
time limit will not be entertained / allowed to board the
vessel, a communication from the Deputy Director (SS)
said here today.

Department IMD has
maintained its earlier
forecast of good rainfall
this year in the country. In
its second long range
forecast, the IMD has
predicted that the
southwest monsoon
rainfall will be more than
the normal in 2016.Briefing
reporters in New Delhi
today, Director General of
IMD, Shri L S Rathore said
the monsoon seasonal
rainfall is likely to be 106 per
cent of the long period
average. The country had
received deficient rainfall in
the last two consecutive
years.
