These include 13 girls. Four of the awards have been given posthumously. The coveted Bharat award has been conferred on 8 year old Late Kumari Tarh Peju of Arunachal Pradesh, who sacrificed her life while saving two of her friends from drowning. The prestigious Geeta Chopra award has been conferred on 18 year old Tejasweeta Pradhan and 17 year old Shivani Gond of West Bengal who showed immense courage fearlessly helping police and NGO in uncovering an international sex racket leading to the arrest of the 25 children including 13 girls selected for National Bravery Awards mastermind in Delhi. The Sanjya Chopra award has been given to 15 year old Sumit Mamgain of Uttarakhand who displayed outstanding bravery in fighting a leopard to save his cousin. Port Blair, Jan 17 The District Administration, South Andaman District has decided to conduct 'Tehsil Diwas' on monthly basis in each Tehsil of the South Andaman District, to ensure time bound redressal of the grievances of the general public/PRIs, under the chairmanship of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SA)/ Additional District Magistrate (SA) & A s s i s t a n t Commissioner(S) concerned with the Executive Engineers of APWD & Electricity Deptt, Joint Director, Agriculture, Assistant Directors of Fisheries & AH&VS Deptt., Deputy Directors of Health, Transport & Shipping Departments, Deputy Education Officer concerned, Block Development Officer, Tehsildar, Executive Engineer, PRI, Executive Engineer, ZP, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Assistant Chief Conservator of Forest as Members. The ‘Tehsil Diwas’ will be held once in a month at each Tehsil and all the Sub Division level officers of various Departments shall compulsorily take part in it under the chairmanship of Sub Divisional Magistrate. If he has to take leave of absence, the same shall be taken from the chair prior to the meeting. SDM/ ADM/ACs as the case may be, shall attend to the grievances of the individuals and pass necessary written instructions to the Departmental heads in the meeting itself which should be as per law & rules/regulation as applicable. Under this portal clearances are made available in a common, uniform and integrated Single Window Clearance Portal by DIC manner, so that entrepreneur can view all details at a single place viz. common application form (CAF) module, online portal for clearance, online portal for incentives, digital locker, dash board, help desk portal and online discussion forum. Tanvi Garg in the Auditorium of Govt. Girls. Sr. Sec. School here this ‘Gyanodaya’-2016-17 gets underway Models of various disciplines on display; exhibition open till Jan 19 evening. Addressing the gathering, the chief guest said 'Gyanodaya' is a platform for students to interact, learn and share knowledge. She said, Science can be applied in real life, and lauded the beautiful models of various disciplines displayed by the students. She also urged everyone to visit the exhibition and encourage the students. The chief guest also went round the exhibition hall, evinced keen interests in the models on display there and interacted with the students. Sessions Judge Sidhartha Kanjilal has convicted the accused Keshav Rao on Jan 16, 2017 for assaulting a pregnant woman following which she succumbed to the injuries and died. The accused Keshav Rao was produced from judicial custody on Jan 17 and after hearing him and his counsel, the Ld. Court of Sessions Judge has imposed punishment upon the accused Keshav to suffer rigorous imprisonment for 5 years and to pay fine of Rs.5000/- and in default of payment of fine, he One convicted for assaulting woman has to suffer further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months for commission of offence punishable U/s 304 Part II IPC. The Sessions Judge also imposed punishment upon the accused person to suffer rigorous imprisonment for 6 months and to pay fine of Rs.1000/-. In default of payment of fine, he has to suffer rigorous imprisonment for 1 more month for the offence punishable U/s 451 of IPC, a communication from the Public Prosecutor, A&N Administration said here today. Port Blair, Jan 17 Inspector General Kuldeep Singh Sheoran, PTM, TM Commander Coast Guard Region A&N laid the foundation stone for construction of Coast Guard jetty at Diglipur and Mayabunder. The Coast Guard jetty at these locations will be constructed as extension to the existing PMB jetty with auxiliary and berthing facilities. The projects are being executed by Andaman Lakshadweep Coast Guard Jetty at Diglipur and Mayabunder; foundation stones laid Harbour Works in association with Military Engineer Services and will be completed over the next two years. The construction of the jetties will provide impetus to sea surveillance capacity of Coast Guard in the Northern Group of Islands. The Commander Coast Guard, while addressing the senior officials during the function, emphasised upon infrastructure development in these Islands in conformity with the expansion plans envisaged in the Coast Guard Development Plan 2017-22. He acknowledged the continued co-operation and support of A&N Administration in enabling these facilities to enhance Coast Guard operations capacity. The projects for Coast Guard jetty at Hutbay and Campbell Bay are also being progressed and Commander Coast Guard stressed upon monitoring the projects for timely completion for induction and basing of more Coast Guard assets in A&N Region. During their stay here, the Members of the Commission will hold a programme on 'Human Rights', at 10 am in the auditorium of Tagore Govt. College of Education followed by an open hearing/camp sitting at the same venue on Jan 19, 2017. The Commission will also hold meeting with local NGOs and Senior Officers of A&N Administration in the conference hall of Secretariat in the afternoon of Jan 19, followed by media briefing. The Members of the Commission will also be visiting Car Nicobar on Jan 20 and hold meeting with officials and representatives of Tribal Council. On completion of the visit, they will leave for mainland on Jan 21, 2017, an official release said.

Chairperson & Members of

NHRC to arrive on visit to Isles todayPort Blair, Jan 17

The Chairperson, Members and officials of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) will

be on a three-day visit to the Islands from Jan 18 to 20, 2017. During their stay here, the Members

of the Commission will hold a programme on 'Human Rights', at 10 am in the auditorium of

Tagore Govt. College of Education followed by an open hearing/camp sitting at the same venue

on Jan 19, 2017. The Commission will also hold meeting with local NGOs and Senior Officers

of A&N Administration in the conference hall of Secretariat in the afternoon of Jan 19, followed

by media briefing.
