TANGENT CLUB
Summer time!Summer. Finally summer. For those of you who live in warmer parts of the world it’s hard to understand the magic that word holds for us up here in the north. It’s that much too short oeriod when it’s day-light almost 24 hours per day, when you don’t have to wear thick overcoats and long underwear, when everybody is smilig and life is a little easier. It’s also that short perod when everything is happening - all parties, all weddings, all music festivals, everything.
A lot has happened in the Tangent world since we had our AGM in Landshut and I was elected president. We now have a complete new board, sin-ce Tangent Cyprus’ AGM. Welcome aboard Anna - IRO Tangent Cyprus! (Nice name by the way). You can find all contact details in this newsletter. We also have chartered to new Tangent countries - Tangent Club Israel and Tangent Club Sri Lanka. Our Tang-ent world is certainly growing and nothing gives me more pleasure!
It’s such a privilege to be working in this fantastic organisation. The other day I got a friend request from a Tangent in India. She sent me a greeting and we started to chat. I’d never met this lady before but we hit it off instantely, giving proof to the saying: Meeting a new Tangent, is meeting an old friend for the very first time. That truth works both nationally and internationally. So reach out your hand to the Tangent world, go to an international event or attend another country’s AGM and you will find more friendship han you ever could imagine.
This weekend, the TCI VP, Treasurer, Secretary and I will sit down at my home and start to work with the TCI rules and guidelines and work descriptions. But don’t worry, I’ve put in som nice breaks as well. We will do our very best to move this organization forward. But we can’t do it without your help. If you have any input or questions or issues you want us to raise, we are only an email or phone call away. Remember, we are there for you!

TANGENT CLUB
Greetings from Tangent SwedenHi Tangent ladies all over the world.I am Susanne Otzen and I am the president of Tangent Sweden 2016/2017. I joined Ladie Circle in 1997 and left in 2014. Two years before that I started as a hangaround in Tangent Sweden just to keep in touch with all the fabulous ladies I´ve known in our organization. When I got the question to become vice president the only answer was Yes, I´ll love it!
The photo is from our AGM when we had a very good meeting led by IPP Åsa Cato. Of course we had some champagne during the meeting, we Swedish ladies love to line up with glamour.
The next hap-pening in Tan-gent Sweden, except from starting the work with the new board, is our Half Year Meeting at Hooks herrgård 28-30th of October. The-re will be many chances to meet new and old friends, both from Tangent Sweden and Old Tablers Sweden. Last year we had a hilarious Saturday afternoon with activities for everyone. The ones who went for a little nap did miss something special. Sign up for HYM Sweden at https://oldtablers.eplanner.se/hym2016/ , the page will be open soon.
Hope to meet you somewhere, sometime…

Facts about Tangent SwedenTangent Sweden was founded in 1996. From the beginning we only had single membership but since the AGM in Borgholm in 2012, we also can charter Tangent Clubs. This has been a great success and we are now 14 clubs with more to come and 160 members. The Round Table family in Sweden works closely side by side and at the AGM 2016 Tangent Sweden and Ladies Circle Sweden signed a MOU. For us charity is important and we raise money both for All4Nepal and for the national service project of Ladies Circle. A normal year starts with the president of Tangent Sweden participating in the startup meeting for the new club presidents of Ladies Circle in August. In October we have the Half Year Meeting together with Old Tablers Sweden. In February and March, the board of Tangent Sweden is represented at all 13 Ladies Circle Area Meetings, and in May we have a gigantic side by side AGM. 2016 we were a record breaking 1360 participants! Between these regular events, there are always a lot of happenings at the local level. We Swedes do know how to party. So, please, feel welcome to come partying with us anytime!

Report from TCI AGM 2016 in LandshutOn a beautiful sunny Saturday the second TCI AGM took place in Germany on the 23th April 2016, the event were hosted by OT 153 Landshut and we had the pleasures of welcoming 65 partici-pants from 8 countries including the LCI President Ruth Hungwe -Rukarwa and the RTI Vice Presi-dent Kaj Kostiander for the TCI AGM.

to welcome Tangent Israel as associate member of TCI, the Tangents of Israel are already very active – and you should all enjoy visiting their FaceBook group and fol-low the event of Tangent Club Israel. We hope to be able to welcome participants from Tangent Club Israel at the TCI AGM 2017 in Blackpool, England.
It might have been a bit stressful planning the TCI AGM as everything we do is still a lot of first, but af-ter this AGM we will do a lot of seconds – and our new TCI President Anna Åkesson will cement the work done during the past 2 years.
The new TCI Board was inducted and I look forward to follow Anna and her team in the year to come.
For me it is time to say thank you and goodbye, thank you to all Tangents, Circlers, Tablers and 41’ers around the world that for the past 8 years have supported the birth of TCI and helped on the way to our the Charter, the first and the second TCI AGM.
I look forward to see you all and to learn of new friends amongst the world of Tangent in the years to come – and to be able to spend all my time with you.

The Charter of Tangent Israel
This was historic moment in LC Israel - 3 Tangent clubs were founded with lovely Ex-circlers.
During the ceremony President LC Israel Adi Beery and Presi-dent TC Israel Liat Wallenstein signed a treaty organization for full cooperation between Tangent Israel and LC Israel to work together and to continue friendship and service for ever.
Lots of love to all the ladies in the world who have chosen to do something good for someone
voluntarily with big hug

On the 16th of June at the AGM of Ladies Circle Israel, Tangent Club Israel was chartered. Since the charter letter wasn’t ready at that moment, it was signed at a later date. The entusiasm and amount of work already done by the Israelian Tangents is truly remarkable. We look forwatd to meet you at TCI events and encourage all Tangents to fol-low Tangent Club Israel on Facebook. We can all find a lot of inspiration there!
A heartfelt welcomefrom the entire Tangent world

Welcome Tangent Club Israel
In May this year I was contacted by Smita Chopra of Tangent India. She had been in contact with some ex-circlers and wifes of Club 41:ers and told them about Tangent. They became in-terested in forming a Tangent Club themselves and from that moment everything happened very quickly. I volunteered that Tangent Sweden could be Godmother country to Tangent Club Sri Lanka. Through Smita I sent them all information and nec-cessary documents and we formed a Whatsapp goup where we had lively discussions about all matters concerned.
So not more than a month after I was first contacted, I got an urgent proposal from Smita. Could I please be present via Skype on the charter of Tangent Club Sri Lanka on the 25th of June. Of course I could. So thanks to modern technology I had the pri-vilege to be part of this historical moment. It was a both solemn and warm ceremony and the new Tangent country was greeted
by Tangent Club International, Tangent India and by the president of Club 41 Sri Lanka as well as other representatives of Club 41. At the same time Tangent Sri Lanka signed the application form for associate membership in Tangent Club International. Smita has put together a video on the charter, which I’ve posted in the Tangent Club International facebook group. If anyone is interested an this video, I’m more than happy to send it to you.
Smita did a marvelous job with meetings and information. This could not have happened without her! But I was equally impressed by the enthusiasm and eagerness shown by the Sri Lankesian Tangents and I’m sure Tangent Club Sri Lanka will have a bright future. I’m looking forward meeting several of the ladies at Tangent India’s AGM in Bangalore in October.
A heartfelt welcomefrom the entire Tangent world

LittleBigHelpThe board of Tangent Club International has decided to promote a charity project. But since we are such a young organisation, we didn’t want to start our own project but instead has decided to promote the current international service project of LCI, LittleBigHelp.
LittleBigHelp works to create better opportunities and a brighter future for children connected to the street and in slum areas in and around Kolkata, India. They work with children to secure their ba-sic human rights such as education, basic medical care, shelter and nutrition every day.
West Bengal in the Eastern part of India is one of the country’s poorest states with more than 50% of the population being impoverished.
Many of the people living in the State capital of West Bengal, Kolkata, do not have access to ba-sic human rights such as education, clean drinking water, shelter, or food that we in most of the world take for granted. The conditions are even more se-
vere in some of the non-registered slum areas of Kolkata where such rights are non-existent. Children are the most vulnerable group in these areas.
An estimated 12 million children are living on the street in India, whereof an estimated 250.000 children are connected to the street in Kolkata where LittleBigHelp is working. But there has been no official head count of street children in In-dia since hundreds of thousands of them have not even been registered at birth and thus make such head count even more challenging. Help is needed and that is why LittleBigHelp is working in these areas.
To achieve better results, they provide training and assistan-ce to our employees, while they in return acquire invaluable knowledge about local conditions and challenges.
Applying a rights-based approach to their work, they focus on the most vulnerable children in the local communities and the children working on the train platforms. These children have no access to basic human rights and live under extremely chal-lenging conditions. LittleBigHelp work to secure some of their rights such as education, protection and nutrition.
MissionWe change your little help into a big help for people in need.
VisionWe cannot help everybody – but we can help some. And we do it!

To help develop the potential of every child, participation and sup-port is key in their work. It is essen-tial to try to involve all the children they come across. By giving them an education and teaching them about their rights LittleBigHelp enable them to change their future and increase their chances of a life off the street.
Recognizing the importance of the support and involvement of the local communities, LittleBigHelp do awareness camps at their school on various topics where parents of
the children are taught life-skills and are explained the importance of sending their children to school. It is essential for LittleBigHelp’s work that they enjoy their support.
You can find more information about LittleBigHelp on www.little-bighelp.com
I’ve had a meeting with LittleBig-Help together with the vice presi-dent of LCI, Gry Haugen and told them about our support. I also told them that since this is new to us, I couldn’t give them an estimate of how big a support we would be able to provide. Our goal is to be able to donate the money col-lected at the LCI conferenec 2017 in Sønderborg, Denmark. I hope you will all find that this is a good idea both now and for the future. I would very much like to receive ideas from all of you on how to rai-se funds in the best ways. I know we all raise money for our different national projects, but surely there’s room for one more. And I also know that nwhen we women put our minds to something and work to-gether as one, we can really move mountains.
A little help from you is a bip help for othersLove Anna
