Long Term Program Plan (LTPP) Guiding Principles: TCDSB affirms their denominational rights and strives to preserve a Catholic school presence in all communities.

Strong program offerings in all schools are seen as one of the cornerstones to achieving this goal. The TCDSB Long Term Accommodation and Program Plan (LTAPP) recognizes the need to retain and strengthen

religious ties and affiliations with the local parish. TCDSB will offer innovative and relevant programs that attract our community stakeholders, while ensuring that

we collaborate with our own Catholic neighbouring schools to differentiate our specialty program offerings. There is an interconnection within our TCDSB families of schools that ensures complementary programs, as well

as seamless transition from our elementary to our secondary schools. TCDSB is committed to delivering a range and equity of programs, with inclusive opportunities for all students. The LTAPP recognizes where viable, our unique single gender schools will be retained, enhanced and expanded

where viable. TCDSB will give due consideration to the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act with

all new decisions regarding facility and program arising from the LTAPP process. Local planning within TCDSB schools should be respectful of the system perspective – “Every school a great school.” (D. Hopkins) Program identification within the TCDSB LTAPP process will include consultation with all key stakeholders and

partners. TCDSB may implement an attendance boundary policy in an effort to balance enrollment pressures across the

system where required. TCDSB schools will endeavour to ensure that all program foci selected are sustainable over the long term, and

have the flexibility to evolve over time. Program and Facility design decisions informed by the TCDSB LTAPP will be respectful of our environmental

footprint. Facilities and resources must be a consideration before program decisions are finalized and the LTAPP should

utilize and capitalize upon TCDSB assets where practical. Fiscal responsibility is necessary when arriving at a final program recommendation, therefore a funding source

must be identified for all potential costs.

Continuation of a Consultation process (today) and input from the broader community on draft proposals developed to date

Development of a process and protocol for schools to propose specialty foci in the years that fall in between a LTAPP review Process employed by the Ministry for approval

of SHSM programs is a good template after which to model our processes.

Development of “facility standard” for all programs.
