8.0 Self Propelled Transporters
Of the over 250 axle lines of hydraulic platform trailers that Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift operates, 126 lines can be
configured into self propelled mode. These trailers are commonly referred to as Self Propelled Transporters or SPTs. The fleet
operatedbyTuttBryantHeavyLift&Shiftcurrentlyhasacombinedcapacityinexcessof4,000ttechnicalcapacity.
The trend towards modularisation during fabrication and construction is increasing in major industry. With the ability to
offer the SPTs, Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift is well placed to assist in the handling of these larger and heavier types of
modules or equipment.
The propelled axles in the SPTs are fully motorised to provide tractive movement in any direction. The motorised units
also overcome the requirement for ballasted heavy duty prime movers, thus improving overall safety, manoeuvrability and
flexibility while reducing the need for complex coordination.
The driven axle modules can be operated independently and can be assembled into numerous combinations to suit the
project requirements. The SPTs therefore offer a very high degree of flexibility to customers, which is further enhanced
by electronic steering modes such as longitudinal, merry-go-round (carousel), crabwise and lateral for easier and precise
manoeuvring.
Multiple trailers can be programmed for operation from a single control point. The computerised technology means that the
trailers ‘talk’ to one another and move as if they were one single unit without being physically joined together.
This state-of-the-art trailer equipment and engineering back-up mean that Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift is in a unique
position to tackle the heaviest and most challenging of moves.

Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift utilises the latest AutoCAD-based technology to produce rigging and feasibility studies, job
safety analysis and lift planning documents. The approach taken by Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift ensures that through the
stages of planning for a lift, from the conceptual pre-planning phase through to detailed analysis, there is a methodical and
structured consideration of all factors and constraints to meet project and customer requirements. This is another part of
delivering on the division’s objective of safety, service and customer care.
Any major lift that is proposed to be conducted by the cranes from Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift
& Shift will benefit from this in-depth approach. Customers can be assured that through
this process, Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift will employ a fastidious pre-planning schedule
that involves AutoCAD technology, providing pre-lifting studies on crane selection and
deployment, boom leverages and lifting typography for customer’s consideration. Rigging
studies are also part of the pre-planning process where Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift
specifically tailors the crane and lift specifications to the needs and objectives of the
customers. This is a critical aspect as in some instances, weight restrictions, operational
room and safe working loads can play a major factor in the success of the operation.
Careful planning for a lift ensures the correct selection of equipment for the job to be done safely and efficiently
Overall the involvement of Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift at an early stage of planning has proven to be more economic and
less time consuming for clients over the life of their projects.

11.0 Safety and Environmental Standards
Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift is committed to the protection of the safety and health of people and the environment, and
to conducting its operations reliably and efficiently. Operating under the umbrella of the Tutt Bryant Group Health, Safety
and Environmental policies and management standards, Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift has a comprehensive management
system covering statutory, regulatory, customer, quality, environmental, security, health and safety, but ultimately focuses on
establishing an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) workplace. Through this mentality, Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift ensures that

and servicing is conducted at routine intervals based on engine hours, which are
monitored through Satellite GPS and collation of weekly logsheets. On / off hire surveys
are also conducted for condition monitoring of equipment and its wear and tear.
Critically, all cranes in the fleet are subject to the CraneSafe assessment program that is undertaken annually by third parties.
Thorough records are also maintained as part of this program at each step of the servicing and maintenance cycle to assure
the condition and upkeep of each crane unit. It is a testament to the rigor and exacting standards of Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift &
Shift that its 10 year inspection program has been adopted by the Crane Consultative Committee of Victoria, which involves
the unions, employer groups and WorkCover, as the foundation document for future regulation.
Stringent regime from commissioning, servicing, maintenance and annual inspection
12.0 Servicing and Maintenance
Many of the customers serviced by Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift require equipment
to work in demanding locations and harsh environments. These may include remote
mine sites, offshore work or even tight congested industrial areas. The division also
recognises that any lost time working on customers’ projects or worksites will likely

The use of Satellite GPS in the servicing regime of the crane fleet is another example of
innovative and effective use of technology by Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift. Each active
crane is equipped with a GPS unit that can keep track of key operational indicators such
as oil levels, temperatures and operating hours. In the event of an issue, a Short Message
Service (SMS) text message is sent by the unit to the relevant Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift
operations centre with the specific details of the issue. This early-warning system enables
Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift to rapidly deploy its servicing resources thereby minimising
downtime and the impact on customers. The ability to keep track of operating hours on its
cranes also allows Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift to coordinate servicing without impacting
on customers work programs or schedules.
Innovative and effective use
of technology to ensure
preventive measures
and speed of corrective
actions
The ability to service cranes on-site is another vital part of Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift’s offering to its customers. This
ensures the reliability and safety of operational equipment whilst on-site in an efficient manner. The division utilises a fleet
of service trailers for on-site servicing which are capable of being towed by light commercial vehicles, hence eliminating the
need for more expensive truck mounted service equipment. The use of service trailers in this respect has been a successful
application for Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift.
Overall, the servicing and maintenance regime implemented by Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift is a key element to delivering
on the division’s objective of safety, service and customer care. This rigorous system of inspection and maintenance reinforces
Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift’s standing as a leading national provider of lifting and transportation solutions.
