Taxware


Taxware Tax Engine

• Oracle provides Tax Extension facility to integrate external tax calculation programs with Oracle Applications.

• The Tax Extension is called whenever tax needs to calculate by the Receivables Tax Engine. The Tax Extension will return a tax rate or amount which will be use to create the appropriate tax line(s) and related accounting information.

• Sales and Use Tax System: A domestic tax calculation and reporting solution for the U.S. and Canada, the Taxware Sales and Use Tax System automatically calculates taxes for sales, purchases and rentals.


Taxware Tax Engine

• Benefits: The Taxware Sales and Use Tax System content is updated regularly and can help company’s total cost of tax compliance and delivers:

– Full support of all transaction tax mechanisms in Canada’s harmonized and non-harmonized provinces (GST, HST, QST and PST)

– Scalability to accommodate multiple business models

– Taxing jurisdiction assignments through VeraZip or GeoTax

Web Services Client Installation Workaround

• System Requirement to install WSC

– Windows Server 2003 (32 bit and 64 bit) OR Windows Server 2008

– .NET Framework 3.5

• Minimum 2 days to complete the WSC setups

Workaround

• Get the folder “twewebservicesclient” and “taxware” from Taxware team or from previous instance

• Copy into the new application server in the path “/u01/app”(Non-edition file system)


Web Services Client

• Get the new certificates (clientsign and clientauth) and update the respective folders(certs, keystores and properties) in twewebservicesclient folder

• Correct the Java home Path in /twewebservicesclient/runsmoketest.sh

• Correct the instance name in /twewebservicesclient/properties/SOAPClientConfig.xml file

• Navigation: Trading Community Manager Trading Community Administration Geography Hierarchy

• Search for Code as CA and click on View Details

• Click on Add Rows and enter Canada Provinces Codes which are not present

• Taxware will consider only 2 digits Provinces Codes

• Correct all the Canada SHIP_TO Provinces codes as same as 2 digits Provinces Codes


IWO-Tax Account @CA Tax Rate level

• Navigation: Tax Manager Tax Configuration Tax Rates

• Search for Regime Level, Country, Tax Regime Code, Tax Rate Code and Tax

• Click on update Tax Accounts icon to bring up the “Update Tax Accounts” window

• Select Ledger and click the Create button

• Select the Operating Unit value

• Select a GL code combination for the Tax Liability account

• Apply the same steps for CA QST, PST and HST


IWO-Tax Account Update Issue

• Execute the below scripts to get rid of this issue

• UPDATE ZX_JURISDICTIONS_B

• SET EFFECTIVE_FROM = <SYSDATE>

• WHERE TAX_REGIME_CODE = ‘XX_CA_NAME’;

• Commit;

• When assignment of Tax Account is complete, execute following script to put original date back

• Change the Exempt value from NO to YES to exempt the tax

• Login to APPS via SQLPLUS and execute following commands:

• grant all on oe_order_headers_all to twe_ar;

• grant all on ra_interface_lines_all to twe_ar;

• Login to TWE_AR via SQLPLUS and compile these 2 packages (twe_ar_adapter_b_riso.wrp and twe_ar_adapter_custom_b.sql)
