Aboard the Norröna there is, of course, a wellassorted Tax Free Shop, where guests have the chance to purchase selected goods to takeashore.

There is usually not much of a difference between tax free shops, whether you are in an airport or aboard a tourist ship. And the Nor-röna’s customer advisors constantly strive to keep up with the latest trends and what customers want and expect to find at the tax free shop on the journey.

Peter Winther Borup manages the Tax Free Shop:

»The shop on the Norröna is equipped with everything you as a traveller might expect. But then we have that little something extra, which makes our shop unique.«

One might expect a tax free shop to stock popular spirits, wines and beers, as well as tobacco products and perfumes. The shop also has the daily necessities, such as bat-

teries, pharmacy products, shaving utensils and toiletries.

After several years of experience, the crew knows what people might need on a voyage at sea.

THE BEST OF THE NORTH»We strive to offer our customers some of the fi nest products from the countries in the North Atlantic. We want to refl ect the Nordic touch throughout our range«, says the shop manager.

When it comes to spirits you will find all the mainstream schnapps and bitters from the Scandinavian countries.

THE SPIRITS OFTHE FAROE ISLANDSThe spring water of the isolated Faroe Islands is as unspoiled and pure as the islands themselves. Filter ed through the basalt moun-tains the water is renowned for its clarity and delicate taste. For hun-dreds of years only the vikings, their

descendants and occasional pirates have had the pleasure of enjoying this Faroese treasure; nowadays the very foundation of Faroese Spirits.

»For some years ago the Faroese also launched their take on schnapps, »Lívsins Vatn«, made from Faroese spring water, but produced on Iceland. It is, of course, what our restaurant will recommend with a unique dish of Faroese specialities, which you can order as a starter.

Recently the Faroese also launch-ed the worlds strongest Aquavit, call ed »Havið«, which means the ocean.

We also offer Icelandic schnapps. Icelanders have for many years distilled their own schnapps, Brenni-vín«, Peter Winther Borup says

TOP QUALITYFor natural reasons, it is not that easy to preserve the Nordic infl u-ence in the wine section, instead Peter Winther Borup aims for a wide range of quality wines.

»We are committed to the quality of the wines we offer aboard the Norröna, both in the shop and in the restaurants. We stock quality

wines, at prices that suit both the cautious wine buyer and the con-noisseurs.«

In beers, again for natural rea-sons, Faroese beers from Föroya Bjór characterize the onboard selec-tion both in the shop and bars. But you can, of course, also buy Icelan-dic beer and the well-known brands from Denmark.

When it comes to confection-ary, Scandinavia has some of the best to offer people with a sweet tooth. Scandinavian products are in abundant supply, accompanied by the candy you usually find at tax-free shops. The most unique confectionary products aboard the Norröna are probably the Icelandic chocolate-liquorice candies, which are very popular among Icelanders and the Faroese.

NORDIC COUTUREBut when you ask Peter Winther Borup to show you his most prized products, he takes you to the cloth-ing department.

Customers will also find world re-nowned glass designs from Danish Rosendahl at the Shop.

And the jewellery department stocks elegant designs from Pilgrim, as well as from the Norwegian jew-ellery designer NoraNorway, which has taken the clean purity of the fjords and mirrored it with a range of spectacular new jewellery.
