There will be a Junior Class officers meeting in Mrs. Newman’s room during Learning Ops on Monday.

The next meeting of the Tavares High Astronomy Club will be Monday during Learning Opportunities in Mr. Moore's room.

ATHLETICS

Softball Meeting today during LO in the gym; anyone trying out must be there!

Strength training for football begins after school on Monday. Anyone who plans to participate in football at THS should be present. See Coach Armatti with any issues.

The Lady Dawgs traveled to West Palm beach to participate in the 3rd Annual Rising Stars Palm beach shootout. Game 1 we lost vs Seminole Ridge, 38-34 (Mauger had 10 points). Game 2 we won against Boynton Beach, 45-32 (Mauger had 20 points). Game 3 we won against Superior Collegiate, 46-44 (Mauger had 22 points). She was selected to the All-Tournament team.

1781 - Richmond, VA, was burned by a British naval expedition led by Benedict Arnold.

1896 - It was reported by The Austrian newspaper that Wilhelm Roentgen had discovered the type of radiation that became known as X-rays.

1900 - In Ireland, Nationalist leader John Edward Redmond called for a revolt against British rule.

1903 - The general public could use the Pacific cable for the very first time.

1914 - Ford Motor Company announced that there would be a new daily minimum wage of $5 and an eight-hour workday.

2002 - A 15 year-old student pilot, Charles Bishop, crashed a small plane into a building in Tampa, FL. Bishop was about to begin a flying lesson when he took off without permission and without an instructor.
