Air bags in Aria

• In Total six air bags are available in Aria Pride

• 1. Driver air bag mounted inside horn pad which finally mounted on steering wheel

• 2. Co driver air bag which is mounted on dashboard below the plastic

• 3 & 4. two curtain air bags which are mounted above grab handle behind roof liner on LH & RH

• 5 & 6. side air bags which are mounted inside the driver & co driver seat back rest

How air bag works

• Air bag consists of sodium in solid state ( NaN3). During the impact the switch

ignites the sodium. The thermodicamposition chemical reaction takes place

inside the air bag. Due to heat the sodium explodes & sodium oxides & nitrogen

gas is released. The nitrogen gas explodes the bag & blows the bag.

Aria is the first Indian car to be armed with - 6 full surround airbags. The Driver and

Passenger Air Bags get self-inflated within milliseconds depending on the severity of the

frontal collision. The Side Air Bag and Curtain Air Bags assure complete protection on all

seats in case of sideways collision or rollover. By forming a safety cushion for all

passengers, these Air Bags reduce the likelihood of injuries in a collision

satellites (also called NAVSTAR, the official U.S. Department of Defense name for GPS):

• The first GPS satellite was launched in 1978. • A full constellation of 24 satellites was achieved in 1994.

• Each satellite is built to last about 10 years. Replacements are constantly being built and launched into orbit.

• A GPS satellite weighs approximately 2,000 pounds and is about 17 feet across with the solar panels extended.

• Transmitter power is only 50 watts or less.

ABS With EBD

During panic braking or while braking on slippery surfaces with normal brakes, the vehicle goes into a skid and the steering becomes unresponsive, thus resulting in an accident. The Aria is equipped with an Anti-Lock Braking System along with Electronic Brake Force Distribution. The ABS system prevents the brakes from locking. This ensures that the tires retain traction and steering remains responsive, thus preventing accidents. ABS is effective even on slippery surfaces such as wet roads or ice. The Electronic Brake force distribution distributes the brake force as per the dynamic requirement sensed for each wheel while braking. This increases braking efficiency and shortens the braking distance.

This construction provides the car the rigidity and robustness required for Indian roads and multi terrain operation. Advantages of Hydro-forming

• Welding is eliminated (or at least minimized), which makes for better

dimensional control because all of the heat from welding can affect a component's geometry.

• Enhancement in yield strength of material due to cold working.

• Consistent high tensile strength and rigidity and optimized weight.

• Based on some estimates hydro formed steel parts are 10-15% lighter

than comparable stamped steel assemblies.

• Reduced scrap,

• lower tooling costs due to fewer parts,

• more uniform wall thickness,

• Depending on the application, it can save weight, improve fuel economy, minimize waste, and result in stronger, stiffer components that require less

welding. It also provides vast improvement in dimensional accuracy in

certain applications

• In addition, hydro-forming is suitable for both low and high volume production.

Process salient requirements

• The process doesn’t allow much flexibility in shape design as conventional

stamping, that can lead to some design compromise e.g. Perimeter variation

along the length can not be more than 10-15%. Hence there can be areas

where we may have to put extra material (higher sections) which may not

require from design point of view.

• Material yield strength enhancement takes place with thinning of material.

• High initial investment

• Cycle times are slower

• Relatively inferior knowledge base for process & tool design.

• Industry experts caution that hydro forming is not right choice for every part.

of seating you still have ample luggage space at the back. The flexible seating further

ensures that you make maximum use of the vast space provided inside. The 2nd row has

a 60:40 split and the seats can be independently flat folded or tumbled. They can also be

slide back and forth to create extra leg space for 3rd row occupants. The 3rd row can also

be flat folded along with the 2nd row to provide a long flat bed. The split fold facility in the

2nd row when used with the folded 3rd row, can be used to store longer items such as

The Driver's seat in the Aria is specially designed for a comfortable and pleasurable driving

experience. The seat is adjustable 6 ways which includes height adjustment to facilitate an

optimal driving position. The driver's and co driver's seats have arm rests that can

comfortably adjust to any position. And that's not all; the adjustable lumbar support

provides support to the lower back particularly on long journeys. The comfortable seating

position is complemented by a height adjustable seatbelt. This ensures that the driver is

securely fastened to the seat, irrespective of his height.

• To make sure a seatbelt restrains an occupant as early as

possible in a crash, thereby reduce the load on the occupant in a

violent crash, Aria is provided with pretensioners. These tighten

the belt during the very first fractions of a second in a crash.

Pretensioner also reduce the risk of "submarining" (the car

occupant slip under a loosely tightened seatbelt). Aria

pretensioners use pyrotechnic devices that are typically

controlled by the same sensor system as the airbags.

• Pretensioner devices can be added to any of the belt anchorage

points, however, lap pretensioners are normally used in

combination with retractor or buckle pretensioners. All systems

can be tuned to maximize the protection for the occupant.

• These are also called as rotopretensioner load limiter (RPLL)

The Aria assists you in locating your way as well as locating the Car in the dark.

Even when the Car is locked, the headlights can be put on from outside with

the approach light switch on the remote key and it stays on for 60 seconds.

This can help you in locating your way after parking in a dark spot. It can also
