We sell half of our production to the Symington Port Wine and we vinify the other half. But, only 2/3 of our half receive the label "Negreiros", which means that ʻNegreirosʼ is made with the best two thirds of the best half of the grapes grown within the boundaries of the best wine region of Portugal – the ʻUpper Douroʼ.

The creation of Agri-Roncão was the dream of its founder to make wine of great quality. Originally from Penafiel, in the Minho, Domingos Ribeiro completely restored Quinta de Linhares, in the sub-region of So, and Quinta da Levandeira of Roncão in the heart of the Douro. The planting of these vineyards started in 2001 and the whole process was managed by by technical experts at every stage, continuously guided by the institutions responsible for certifying quality.

Caves Salgueiral, Lda. Vinifies grapes from a group of producers located in Peso da Régua, Lamego and Sta Marta de Penaguião and Tabuaço. Their capacity of vinification is around 2.500 casks (1.375.000 liters) and produces fortified wines, Douro Docs, reds and whites. The brands they carry are SACADURA, SOL de XISTO and SEGREDOS.

The Herdade do Rocim is a wine estate located in the lower Alentejo region, with about 100 hectares, of which approximately 70 hectares are under vine. The Herdade do Rocim is now part of an awarded high quality business venture after nearly ten years of investment in improving already stabilized vines, planting new vineyards and building the wine cellar.

With a farming and winemaking tradition of 130 years, the Cancela de Abreu family has records of vine making dating back to 1884. Sociedade Agrícola Boas Quintas was founded in 1991, when Nuno Cancela de Abreu, decided to use his vast experience in the wine trade and produce single estate wines in the Dão region. The philosophy that inspired the creation of the company was based on the production of wines of the highest quality, with distinctive Portuguese character. We firmly believe that the wine begins in the vineyard, being the reflection of the surrounding natural conditions.

The winery “Adega da Covilhã” was founded on 24th of February, 1954. Today it has about 400 active associates and is located around the mountain of Serra da Estrela, enclosing Covilha, as the bordering ones. The average winemaking potential is around 4 million liters, both by table wines and D.O.C. Beira Interior. Our wines are produced with local varieties such as Síria, Arinto and Fonte Cal in Whites and Trincadeira, Jaen, Aragonês and Touriga Nacional in Red Wines. Our labels go from Pedra do Urso (Table wine); Conde Julião, Piornos, Monte Serrano, Colheita de Sócio (DOC wines); Terras de Belmonte (Kosher wines) and Cova Juliana (Sparkling wines); Adega Nova (Sweet wines) and Centum Cellas (Brandies).

Elpido Semedo founded the house in 1937 and it has been run by Lopo de Freitas since 1970. The founder started with the production of sparkling wine. His father created the first cellar by opening a hole in the rocks where he would age the produced wines. By then, his sparkling wine "bruto" was already the best known in the market. In time, the production expanded to the wine spirits, marc spirits and Bairrada, Dão and Beiras wines, paying a fair tribute to the parchments of those regions, and to the amazing vineyard and respective grape varieties. Marc spirit São Domingos continues to be leader in the market with high quality. The Continuous innovation of the means of production and winery allowed the company to raise its quality standards where wines are concerned, and reinforce its position in the market, leading the company to strengthen the prestige and name of São Domingos.

The Paço do Conde winery, located by the banks of Guadiana River, in the district of Beja (Baleizão), has been commercializing its wines since 2003 with the brand names of Herdade Paço do Conde and Herdade das Albernoas. The vines are planted in xist soils, on an extension of 100 ha., where native varieties (Touriga Nacional, Aragonês, Trincadeira, Castelão, Antão Vaz and Arinto) and international ones, (Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) allow the winemaker, Rui Reguinga to work successfully with a diversity of grapes to create this wineryʼ wines.

Every man has a dream, and the dream of Zeca do Pôpa from the Douro was to own a vineyard in one of the best locations in the oldest recognized wine regions of the world. He baptized the vineyard QUINTA DO PÔPA, built with both great economic effort and great enthusiasm, in honour of his father who was nicknamed “Pôpa”.

Luís Pato has been producing wine since 1980, in Bairrada region. Following the «tradition of innovating», he has planted traditional red grape varieties like Baga, Touriga Nacional and Tinto Cão, or white varieties like Maria Gomes and Bical, but is always innovating, harvest after harvest. Informal is his latest creation, a White sparkling made from Baga.

Situated in the Portuguese region of Alentejo, this palace-like 18th century house has become a landmark, not only for its beauty but also for its history and the quality of the wine produced there.Wine has been produced in this estate for over 130 years, but it was at the start of the new millennium that Júlio Bastos startsed its new project, DONA MARIA WINES.The ancient estate winery was restored and extended, equipped with the best and most modern technology, although keeping the famous “lagares” where selected grapes are vinified using the traditional foot treading method. Today, the winery produces 260.000 bottles, but the final goal will be a total production of 500.000 bottles per year, of top quality wines.

Founded in 1955, the Adega Coop. de Borba, was the first of a series of Cooperatives settled in the Alentejo region. It was promoted and helped by the "Junta Nacional do Vinho", a public organization that controlled and supervised the wine production in Portugal, at a time when wine production didn't carry much weight in the region. This action allowed the creation of a commercial and productive organization for the Alentejo wines, otherwise the vine culture could have completely disappear because all the existing incentives at that time were for the production of grain in order to transform Alentejo in "bread basket" of Portugal. Today the Adega Coop. Borba, Borba brings together 300 associates whose vineyards cover a total area of 2,100 hectares, distributed in 65% in red grape varieties and 35% in white grape varieties. In a constant search to enhance the quality of their products, the Adega Coop. Borba, has today an ambitious project to bring closer the grape grower closer to the Winery, to inspire in him the passion of making great wines.

Port & DOC Douro wine producers, VALLEGRE, Vinhos do Porto S.A. owns 3 Estates in the Douro region, with approximately 100 hectares of vineyards; on the most important, Quinta da Vista Alegre, some of the vineyards are over 75 years old, others are more recent and mechanized. From the climatic point of view, the location is exceptional; the vineyard is totally facing south with a average height of 250 meters. Also located at the Quinta, the vinification center has state of the art technology but we still kept the more traditional old “Lagares”, to make top of the range qualities, like the LBV or the Vintage. Today the wines are sold all around the world, over 25 different countries; the more than 100 recent awards, achieved in several international wine contests, certify and recognize our quality.

A Family Estate Property, located in Alentejo where we produce high quality wines and raise certified animals. This is our passion: a passion we want to share.Malhadinha Nova winery unites many original features for the production of the highest quality wines. A selection of the best technology combined with proven traditional techniques to ensure that the wines will truly reflect the quality of the vineyard. The winery is located alongside the vineyards and has been built into a hillside permitting vital steps of the winemaking process to occur by gravity. Grapes after hand harvesting in small boxes are rigorously selected and fermented in refrigerated “lagares”. The barrel room is excavated deep into the hillside to provide perfect conditions for maturing red wines.

Established almost twenty years ago, Quinta de Baixo is located in Cordinhã, Cantanhede, in the Bairrada region. With calcareous clay soils, excellent terroir for the Baga varietal, the 22 hectares of vineyards are divided in three estates with ages from 10 to 80 years old. Fermentation takes place in modern presses that are open and refrigerated, where “pisa-pé” (crushing with feet) perfectly combines the traditional methods of vinification with the most modern technology. The wine cellar, made of limestone, has the necessary conditions for natural sparklings to ferment and for the wine to age in barrels. That is how Quinta de Baixo wines are born.

Quinta da Prelada is located in a unique place in the world, the valley of the Douro. The Village, where the winery can be found is a few kilometres away from the Régua city. Created in the beginning of the XVII century and owned by the Magalhães e Silva family, this is the 5th generation that is producing wine there. Itʼs total area is 60ha, altitude can range from 250 to 450 meters and the average age of the vines is 30 years old.

Our family has been working in viniculture and wine growing for several generations. We currently explore over 170 ha divided in two properties in central Portugal: Quinta de S. Mateus and Quinta de Vale dʼ Azar. Situated on Quinta de S. Mateus, our new wine cellar (September 2004) produces 300,000 bottles a year. The wine is produced without any pumps at all (thereʼs a 18m height difference between the entrance of the grapes and the presses), we only use the robot pigeuer, without remontage, without using any yeasts, enzymes or bacteria. We seek Bairrada DOC Certification for all our wines, so that we can proudly carry the name of our land, far and wide.

Dona Matilde is a family owned estate located in the banks of the river Douro. It has been in Manuel Barrosʼ family since 1927 when his Grand-father bought it to incorporate in the familyʼs Port wine business. Shortly after the family sold its business in 2006, Manuel Barros bought back the estate and launched a new wine project in order to produce and market top quality DOC Douro wine and Port.

100% Cork is a campaign to educate U.S. wine consumers and the wine industry about the benefits of choosing wine with real cork stoppers because of corkʼs environmental, technical and societal advantages.

Natural cork is one of the worldʼs most sustainable products. Biodegradable and recyclable, its use provides an economic incentive to preserve vast cork oak forests in the Mediterranean Basin that trap greenhouse gases, prevent desertification and provide habitat and sustain generations of family farmers. Half of the worldʼs cork is produced in Portugal , where cork oaks were planted 400 years ago to seal a new beverage called Champagne .

There is no shortage of cork, and cork oaks are not cut down to make cork. A portion of their bark is removed every nine years during a 250-year lifespan.

Cork is also the ideal closure for wine and helps it to age properly. And of course the distinctive pop of a real cork is integral to the romance of wine.

So raise a toast to cork. Itʼs good for culture, nature, the future – and your wine!
