September 15, 2015 For Immediate Release TASTE community grown returns September 26 for 14 th annual food & drink festival TASTE community grown, Prince Edward County’s premier culinary event, will take place Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Crystal Palace in Picton, Ontario. Attendees will be able to sip and nibble their way through our annual showcase of the best that Prince Edward County offers in food, farm products, restaurants, wineries, craft breweries, and mead (honey wine). Farmers will have local fruits & vegetables for sale along with jams, preserves, hot sauce and other products made with locally-grown ingredients. Attendees can also purchase Ontario VQA wines directly from wineries at the event. The festival will also feature 3 seminars to educate and inspire. The Cellar Sisters host Unusual Suspects: Unique Wine & Food Pairings at 1pm. Michael Fohr of Amphora Trading Company presents Choosing the Perfect Stemware: Care, Maintenance and Decanting at 2pm. Gavin North of Honey Pie Hives and Herbals speaks about The Magic of Honey & Mead at 3pm, including a tasting of mead (honey wine). County Chopped, based on the popular TV program, returns this year at 4pm. Defending Champion Elliot Reynolds of The Hubb Eatery & Lounge at Angeline's Inn returns to take on challengers Sujo Bae (of Wellington's newest restaurant Soup Opera) and Neil Dowson (of The Agrarian Bistro & Speakeasy). MPP Todd Smith will emcee, while judges Cynthia Peters (From the Farm Cooking School), Rebecca Mackenzie (Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance), John Walker (former Dean of the Centre of Hospitality and Culinary Arts at George Brown College), and Kari Macknight Dearborn (Slow Food PEC, Ontario Wine Society PEC) taste the chef's creations and determine who'll take home the trophy this year. Attendees will also be treated to live entertainment throughout the day by Vintage Soul, playing classic rock, country and soul.

About the Prince Edward County Winegrowers Association

The Prince Edward County Winegrowers Association (PECWA) is a not for profit organization comprised of over 30 winegrowers who work together to increase

awareness of The County’s provincially designated viticultural area with a variety of visitor experiences.

PECWA’s events include TASTE community grown, the Terroir spring food & wine market, and the traditional Wassail in late November/early December that celebrates a successful harvest and the advent of winter. PECWA also produces the popular fold-out wine tour map.
