Scenarios Based Learning
2. Why SBL?
Too much instructional delivery still focuses on the most
elementary level of learning. in Blooms terms: Knowledge and
Comprehension
This often places the learner in a passive role sponge!
In the classroom this looks like traditional lecture: I tell, I
ask, then you answer until it is hammered in!
3. Why SLB
Effective learning environments should
Be problem-based (scenarios)
Actively engage students in learning
Collaborative mirroring work environments
Make knowledge applicable to real world
Demonstrating knowledge - TELL and SHOW
Applying skills ASK andDO
Transferring skills USE and MODIFY
4. SBL in Tech Writing 107
Course is equivalent to English 101
Writing assignments business oriented: letters, overviews, reports,
analysis
Course seems a natural for SBL as it has a very real world take on
the purpose and necessity of writing.
Course challenging as it is online, making collaboration at times
problematic.
