The Good:Macklemore – Can’t Hold Us

The song in the music video is a rap song

where the lyrics are sang very quick in parts.

This can be a challenge when making a music

video as it can be difficult to sync the video

with the song.

The body language shown in the music

video is very stereotypical in terms of

what we expect when watching a rap video.

This helps give the video a much more

professional feel.

There are also a wide variety of camera angles

used in the video.

For example, in these screenshots we can see close up, high angle and over the shoulder shots.

The locations in the video all vary and make the video a lot more enjoyable to watch.

The video is shot fully in the center of London and the acting is good throughout even when they are surrounded by a lot of

people.

The editing is very fast throughout the video with a linear narrative being used along

with fast cuts. Cartoon-like filters are also used in the video to add some comedy.

The Good:Beyonce – Run The World (Girls)

This music video is superb. The editing is done to a very high standard with slow motions, blurs and

special effects being used. Thirdly, the acting in the video is also spot

on as the music is perfectly lip synced and

the dancing is well choreographed.

They have also spent a lot of time getting

appropriate outfits and planning locations which is evident as they use a studio for some scenes in the video to make it

look more professional.

There are a lot of close up shots used throughout which can be seen in

these screenshots. This is effective as you can clearly see the girls facial

expressions and accurate lip syncing.

The BadModestep - Paradise

This video is not as good as the others because there is no lyrics in the

song meaning that there is no lip syncing at any

point throughout.

The slow music at the start of the song does

not really match what is happening in the scene which is a fight scene

Costumes are not well thought out in this music

video as the actors are wearing everyday

clothing which do not match the music genre.

The eye line match shot above has potential to be good but the image is

blurry and therefore adds no relevance to the video.

The majority of shots in the music video are close up shots which is

appropriate as it shows the characters emotions and expressions enabling

the audience to know how they feel.
