How did we attract our audience?

By Itamar Blauer

In order to attract our audience, we needed to ensure that firstly our film was the best that it could possibly be. This is so that once we attract our audiences, they will directly refer to their friends and recommend that they should watch out thriller, as our primary audience would be very pleased with it.

What sells our film? The use of creativity, originality and our

innovative production means ensured that our thriller would be adored by our target audiences. Examples of these aspects are the killer’s profile; and the contrasts between the killer and the basketball player.

Examples of similar films:We need to talk about Kevin

We can see that in this film, the majority of viewers are male, and most of them fit in with our secondary target audience, which are 18-30.

Examples of similar films:Elephant

This film has a much greater ratio of male to female viewers, with the majority fitting in with our thriller’s secondary audience.

Examples of similar films:Bowling for Columbine

We can see that this film’s audience is dominated by males, most specifically between the ages of 18-29, which is our secondary target audience.

Examples of similar films:Bonnie and Clyde

This film is a bit more neutral when it comes to male/female viewers ratio, however the majority of viewers are still male, yet most of them do not fit within our target audience.

Evaluation of similar films’ target audiences

With these 4 examples, the majority of viewers were male for all the films, with most of them being within our secondary target audience, which are males aged 18-30. This is because the films were rated 18, therefore they were not advised for teenagers, however our film will mostly have male viewers.

This may also change as some female viewers may be attracted to either the killer or the basketball player respectively, therefore our film can attract a wider audience than what our target audience is.

How would our thriller spread?

Once the primary audience has been reached and has viewed our film, they would then use the word of mouth in order to allow us to address a greater ratio within our selected social groups; in order to obtain the most amount of views and it would then help us widen our audience to more people within the social groups.

Why will this happen?

I believe that due to the originality of our film (as there aren’t other films where a killer in a duck mask has gone inside a school and started massacring everyone), has enabled the viewer to become very fond of our idea, and would therefore recommend our film to they would spread the film with friends of the same age-range or social group.
