Transcript of Task 2

How does your product represent particular

social groups?

Main CharacterOur main character Grace appears to be an ordinary teenage girl but on the inside she is mentally damaged as she has forgotten part of her past. It's not until she draws a

picture of a face in art class and recognizes it from her past does it come back to haunt her. Our main character is similar to the one from 'The Butterfly Effect' played by Ashton

Kutcher. Our influence for the main character was from 'The Butterfly Effect' we

tried to use some of the same characteristics as the main character

(Ashton Kutcher) to give the impression of lost memory and confusion.

Similarities in Characters

• The image on the next slide is of our main character and 'The Butterfly Effects'. They have got the same facial expression and body language to show confusion and concentration. They both have the object that has made them remember their past in front of them. In the Butterfly Effect, Ashton Kutcher has journals which he wrote when he was younger where as our character has drawn a picture of a face from memory and it makes her remember something from her past. Both of the background settings are working environments, Ashton's is a desk with a computer, ours is a classroom.

Below I have circled the similarities (which I described on the previous slide( of both characters in the most similar scene. Remembering their

pasts.

Representing

Our opening sequence represents the normal teenagers of school/college in there lessons discussing their work and

getting on with their daily business. In the film 'The Butterfly Effect' Ashton Kutcher doesn't have

very many friends and is focused on his journals trying to remember his past. Our main character Grace is a new

student to the school so doesn't have very many friends yet but has general discussion in the classroom with her

classmates. After drawing the image she tries to remember her past but we don’t see this in the opening sequence we

have created.
