Target Audience

Age Certificate

Thriller movies usually have an age certificate of 18+

because they are complex, violent and disturbing. This is

also because many thriller films contains sex.

The gender of the audience varies simply depending on

the person watching the film, whether they like a specific

role/narrative/style etc.

Not all thriller films have an age certificate of 18+ as

some are less violent or explicit, these are usually based

on crime.

• The Purge has an age

certificate of 15 as

violence and horror

elements are not as

strong. This film is one of

our influences for our title

sequence, therefore

having an age certificatory

for our film at 15 would be

most suitable.

I think we made a good decision of our sub-genre as most of the public prefer

Supernatural horrors such as Paranormal Activity. Paranormal Activity has a BBFC of

age 15, the same we would have an age certificate of 15 to have a good gross and

our film is mild horror so 18 would be an exaggeration. Evidentially, 19-24 year olds

take up most of the horror film audience at 37% so we would have a target audience

ranged between 15 – 14 year olds. Gender audience for thriller movies are more

female audience by about 8%, we wont go to the extreme to target this gender

audience as the film does not have aspects of a specific audience. If we were to

narrow our audience to gender we could use a cast which would attract this audience.

Demographics

Thriller Movies could be aimed at any off the

letter codes ( A,B,C1,C2,D,E). This is because it

has such a wide audience. However some Thrillers

do not appea; to all audiences such as a

psychological thriller may not appeal to the E

code (unemployed) as they could be less

educated if they are unemployed so would not

see the appeal in a psychological thriller.
