1. 2.How does your media product represent particular social groups? 2. Target Audience- Females My target are aged between 16-22 years old. The target audience has got a limited amount of income due to studying at college. They may have a part time job which gives them a little bit of extra money and they dont rely on their parents to give them money like most teenagers which puts them in the social classifications as a D or C2. Thats why they said they wanted the college magazine to be 2.50. I have priced my magazine using the results of my magazine questionnaire. I have also used things they have asked to be put in my magazine. For example; I asked my target audience what is the best thing about college? I had a mixture of responses for females and males, for example they like meeting new people or knowing what is going on around college. I applied this by writing cover lines that have those things in for my audience. 3. Target Audience The target has shown they buy magazines weekly or monthly depending on that individual. This shows that there income is not great so they would buy magazines weekly or monthly so they can buy things to enjoy, like music or clothing. My main image for my front cover is a representation of my target audience by having a student model for the photograph. This represents what an every day college student looks like. Its a medium close-up which is conventional for the front cover. My model is female and so are my models for other images in my contents and cover. I think it helps represent and target my female audience but not the male since I have no images that have a male model in which is being biased towards one half of my target audience. 4. Target Audience- Male My target are aged between 16-22 years old. The VALS (Value Aspiration Lifestyle) of my audience includes various things from chess to sport. I have included a cover line on my front page to represent the VALS that my target audience has, for example my male audience likes to play sports. My audience like a variety of different magazines to read from ESPN Magazine to Empire, so having a mixture of different cover lines helps cover a wide range of topics in the magazine to represent the audience. My masthead is a representation of my target audience because it relates to college which a lot of teenagers go through and also a lot of people get inspired in some way or another by college. 5. Target Audience The target audience has shown they buy magazines on a weekly/ daily or monthly basis depending on that individual. This shows that their income is not great so they would buy magazines weekly or monthly so they can buy things to enjoy, like music or sport equipment. Their social classification is C2 to E which means my target audience is either unemployed or has a low status in their jobs. There media consumption is similar because both are likely to watch the TV show X Factor but the people who are classed in the social classification as E or D will also watch soaps on the television. 6. Target Audience My media product appeals to my social group by having an online version where they can get the latest news about country music since they are wanting to know what is going on around college. My media product also represents my social group because they can follow the magazine on the social networking sites they are on. There are social networking items in the contents page that tell the audience what sites the magazine is on since they are always checking and keeping updated with the news in music.
