Tara Government College, Sangareddy, Sangareddy District, Telangana, reaccredited
by NAAC in March 2013 with CGPA of 2.75 on four point scale at “B” Grade, submitting its
annual self-reviewed progress report to NAAC, through its IQAC. The AQAR is with the details of
the results achieved in key areas, in accordance to the perspective plan identified by the

Significant Activities and contributions made by IQAC
• The IQAC of the Institution Coordinated, encouraged different departments of the
institution in conducting various curricular and extracurricular activities.
• One day state level Workshop organized by Department of Public Administration on
“Personality development & stress management” (03/04/2018).
• One day orientation Training programme on Presentation Skills, Career Guidance and
Knowledge about Online Educational Resources organised by the departmentof
English and TSKC.
• With the encouragement and motivation of the IQAC team, Five (5) student Study
projects were selected and presented at state level student study project presentation
conducted by the commissioner of collegiate education, Telangana state in the month
of January 2018.
• Two(2) Student study projects were awarded State level Best Projects conducted by
Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Telangana state, Hyderabad in the month of
January 2018.
• Minor research projects that were sanctioned were completed.
• With IQAC motivation Students of the College received National level appreciation
certificate from Vice-President of India Sri.M.Venkaiah Naidu, for the short film on
the topic “Swacha Bharath”.
• IQAC is instrumental in conducting various competitions on the occasion of world
telugu conference celebrations (16/11/2017 to 19/11/2017).
• Being the Identified College the Principal of this College holds monthly review
meetings with the Principals of all Government Degree Colleges in the District on
Academic, Administrative and Developmental Activities of the Colleges every Month.

grievances like fee payment, revaluation problems, scholarship issues, bus Passes and fee

Curriculum Development
Teaching and Learning
• Four of our Faculty are Members of the BOS in the affiliating University
and involved in the Curriculum development activities.
• The College being an Autonomous College Eighteen regular Faculties are
acting as Chairpersons of the BOS of various Departments of the College.
They are involved in enriching and making changes with respect to
Curriculum designing and development. In all the subjects syllabus
changes are made.
• TSKC and Gender Sensitization Course is part of the curriculum.
• As per the directions of the Commissioner of Collegiate education,
Govt of Telangana and the Affiliating Osmania University, the
institution concentrates on student centric activities.
• Faculty are encouraged and motivated to attend Refresher,
Orientation courses. Faculty are encouraged to attend International,
National, State and District level Seminars, Conferences, Symposia
and Workshops.
• ICT techniques are used in teaching.
• Extension Lecturers are arranged by each department to give
additional input to the students. Digital classrooms created to
enhance teaching and learning

Examination and Evaluation
Research and Development
• The College is having College Research Committee with Ph.D
holders of the faculty so as to encourage and monitor the Research
activities of Students and Staff.
• Faculty Forum at College level and Inter University Faculty Forum
at State level are established to encourage the Research activities
among the Teaching Staff of the College.
• Faculty are encouraged to do Research and to contribute for the
Academic and Research ambience in the College. Nine ongoing
minor projects were completed in the College.
• One Faculty Dr. Nikhat Anjum, Asst Professor of Chemistry who
was pursuing Ph.D. programme under FIP programme completed
Ph.D and joined in the college.
• One day workshop was conducted by Dept of Public administration
on 03//04//2018.
• Project work was introduced to inculcate the spirit of research
among students.
• The Institution conducts Unit Tests, Quarterly, Half Yearly and Pre-
Final Examinations for continuous Evaluation of the Students.
• Internal and External exams are conducted for I & II year students of
U.G & P.G as the college being Autonomous since 2016-17.
• Pre-final and Annual Examinations are being conducted for U.G. III
year students by college and Affiliating University.
• The Examination Cell under the Controller of the Examinations of the
College conducts Internals and Externals Examinations for I & II
Year Students (UG & PG). The External Exam Answer Scripts of the
Students will be evaluated Externally by eminent Faculty of various
Colleges & Universities.
• The college is an Examination centre for various entrance
examinations for Medical, Engineering, Education, Law etc and
conducts these entrance examinations.
• Faculty are deputed to evaluate answer scripts at affiliating university.
• The weightage for Internal Assessment in the college is 30 Marks
where as the weightage for internal marks is 20 in the affiliatied
University.

Faculty and Staff recruitment
• Fully equipped e- classroom is used to conduct various awareness
programmes and to take classes.
• Faculty are using ICT for effective teaching learning process.

• Uninterrupted power supply systems for all Computers are provided.
• Inter Net facility to all the Departments including Laboratories,
Library, College Office, and Principals Chamber and to the Students

• The Department of Zoology has MOU with the Department of
Fisheries, Sangareddy district.
• Department of Chemistry had MOU with Madin chemical
sciences and Letha Charitable trust.
• The College is having collaboration with the District Government
Hospital for conducting the Certificate Course – Medical Lab
Technology (MLT).
• Various departments of the Institution has linkages with
University departments of Osmania University, Hyderabad.
The College is offering admission to the Students n merit
basis by following rule of reservations in to 20 UG programs
and 10 PG programs. The demand ratio is about 1:4 on an
average.
The Commissioner of Collegiate Education started Online
admission process Known as DOST. So the admission is
done on online and the students are allotted to the college.

The College (Tara Government College, Sangareddy) is conferred with
Autonomous Status from the academic year 2016-2017 for a period of six
consecutive academic years from 2016-2017 to 2021-2022.
The Alumni association of the College is very active and Cooperative. The
autonomous joint expert committee appreciated the Alumnus contribution to

Initiatives taken by the institution to make the campus eco-friendly
• The Parent – Teacher Association is also very cooperative, encouraging in
the developmental activities of the college.
• Their suggestions are positively accommodated in the decisions taken by
the college Staff and Principal.
• Feed back from the parents on different aspect of the functioning of the
college is done and analysed.
Support staff are encouraged to take departmental tests and are encouraged to

• Among the students of the college, few students of the college have the research ability
and interest in the application part of the subject.
• Students are motivated to take the project work and research to quench their
intellectual thirst.
• Inculcating the interest in research and experimental work.
• Bringing out research and analysis aptitude of the students
• Project work was introduced as a part of the syllabus.
4. The Practise
As a part of curriculum project works are done by the students. Student study project works
done by the students as a part of curriculum are evaluated by the faculty of each subject. All
the students are motivated to do project works. Faculty of respective subject identifies the
students with good research aptitude and are motivated to undertake student study project
supervised and guided by the faculty of respective subject.
5. Evidence of success
Student study projects done by the students in various subjects are presented at District level.
Seven (7) student study projects in different subjects are selected at district level and were
presented at state level Best student study projects competitions held by the Commissioner of
Collegiate Education, Government of Telangana state. Two student study projects were
awarded as best student projects at the state level.
Research and analysis aptitude of students increased since the inception of this practise.
Few students based on the research and analysis done a short film on Swatch Bharat which was
presented at all India competitions at New Delhi. The students received appreciation from the
Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri. M. Venkaiah Naiudu.

Initially few faculty and students were reluctant to undertake the student study projects, but
after few discussions they have shown their interest to undertake the student study projects.
Best Practise- 2
1. Title of the Practise
Staff Mutual Benefit Fund (SMBF)
2. Objective
• Financial benefits for Teaching and Non teaching staff of the college who are in
financial need, on loan basis with less interest.
3. The Context
Teaching and nonteaching staff of the college get the source of funds during urgency when
need financial support. Rate of Interest on credit taken from non banking sources is high.
Approval and sanctioning of money through personal loan from banks take time. Lending the
money/credit with less rate of interest is of much help for the staff who are in need.
4. The Practise
Teaching and Nonteaching staff join and become the members of the SMBF. Every member
contribute/deposits an amount of Rs 500/-every month (Rupees Five hundred only). Separate
account will be maintained for the SMBF in the bank. Teaching and Non teaching staff who are
in need of money is given with less rate of interest. For every 6 months budget report is
prepared and kept in the meeting. Interest is paid on the amount deposited by each member
during this meeting that will be held for every six months. Rate of interest on deposit is Rs
1.25/- ( one rupee twenty five paisa). Rate of interest on loan is Rs 1.50/- (one rupee fifty
paisa). The difference amount is accumulated and is given as honarorium for the Coordinator
and a clerk who looks after the SMBF.
This SMBF practise was in continuation since 20 years.
5. Evidence of success
• The annual turnover of the SMBF is in Lakhs of rupees.
• All the teaching and Nonteaching staff got benefited by SMBF. Many are benefited
during their hardships.
• NAAC peer team commended this practise and appreciated the system.
