Transcript of TAPS October 2004 TAPS Status Martin Kotulla, University Basel.
TAPS Setup
Martin Kotulla, Universität Basel
BaF2 Detectors/Electronics: all 510 detectors are working
during production run~507 channels operating
NTEC boardand trigger very reliable
problem of setting up CFDsome channels show anincreasing threshold with time(dying)
CFD threshold little higherthan expected (~3 MeV)
operation very unproblematic
DAQ (performance): TAPS daq very reliable and fast
combined daq: works fine~1 syncronization loss / dayeasy to notice and recover
TIME I
Martin Kotulla, Universität Basel
TAPS Time Difference: 0 decay photons, all 510 detectors
„online“ resolution: FWHM < 1.2 ns
TIME II
Martin Kotulla, Universität Basel
TAPS proton signature: time difference TAGGER - TAPS
0 p kinematics, E vs TOT plot to identify protons in TAPS
TAPS Veto
SPS 2004 Martin Kotulla, Universität Basel
TAPS Veto detectors: have been in checked/repaired in Giessen
after ELSA period
operated with common gate (500ns)no ADC/TDC available
thresholds have been individually determined(H.Loehner and S. Shende)
Veto detectors not used in 1. Experiment 0 threshold
thresholds have been lowered and HV increased
1. Operation during MDM beamtime
0 p kinematics to check proton efficiency
„preliminary“ average p efficiency~80 %
improvement?
Summary/Status
SPS 2004 Martin Kotulla, Universität Basel
Upcoming Runs / Future: need to take care of maximum single crystal rate
rare decays (factor 2-3 higher flux)solid target runs (much higher background from pair production...)1. Ring 1.0-2.9°2. Ring 2.9-4.9°
will try to improve on veto efficiency
need to solve CFD setup
