observed to pay respect to late Prof. M. Govindarajan who expired on 3rd

March 2018.Prof. M Govindarajan was a  former professor of Chemistryat A.V.C College and had been an active member of our TANRECTA unit.

Income Tax forms were distributed to  members. Dr M. Varadarajanread an “Irangal paa” on late Prof .MGR. Dr. M.Tamilarasan proposed thevote  of  thanks.

Dr. V.  Swaminathan  in  his  address  explained  in  detail  the AIFRUCTOconference held on 8th and 9th March at Ahmedabad.

20 states were  represented in the conference and the conference hada special session on “women Retirees” on International Women's Day onthe 8th of March, 2018. The secretary Dr. R. Lawrence gave details aboutefforts taken by AIFRUCTO to get specific orders on revision of pensionfor retired college and university  teachers  governed by  UGC pay  scales.The  following  points  are  brought  to  the  notice  of  the  members  ofTANRECTA.

(1) As per the decision of the TANRECTA, members who are in arrearsof subscription for 3 years the journal will not be despatched to them fromApril 2018 onwards . So members are requested to send their subscriptionarrears (if any) immediately  to Dr. R. Lawrence, SF 2, Jains Apartments,Professor colony,  East Tambaram, Chennai  - 600059 by  crossed chequein favour of TANRECTA.

(2) We  are  glad  to  inform  you  that  the Hon'ble  Supreme Court  ofIndia as in the historic Nakara case has again reiterated that pension is nota subsidy or dole given by the Government and hence there is no need tolink Aadhar and pension.

(3)  The  following  issues of  a  few  individuals  are  pending  in  PPO/Colleges for a long time in spite of repeated representation by office-bearers:(a) Dr. Bhakthavatsalu/Pachaiappa's college/ impounded amount of gratuityto be released and paid to him.

(b) Family pension to wife of Prof. Chengalvarayan who died in May2017. (c) Family pension based on UGC orders yet  to be paid  to Dr. K.Manoharan, who expired in July, 2017. (only state pension is sanctioned)(d) Additional pension on completion of 80 years of age not paid to Prof.Nirmala  Ramanathan.  Amount  due  from  October  2017.(e) Eligible service of 4 months to be included for pension calculation forProf. Rajamani, Quaid E Millath college. (ie) eligible pension at minimumof pay band 4.  (f) The revised pension for Prof. Malathy and Prof. Lakshmikutty Menon Of Ethiraj college is yet to be sanctioned.

(g) Revised  pension  for  Prof.Somu  at  minimum  of pay  band 4.  (h)Revised  pension  not  sanctioned  with  effect  from  1-10-2017  forProf.Nanthagopal of S.I.V.E.T College.

TANRECTA is organising “Kathiruppu Porattam” during April 2018when the TN assembly is in session to highlight the issue of college teacherpensioners. TANRECTA members are urged to participate in large numbers.Date will be announced later. Please pay your subscription at the earliest.Next meeting on 7th April at 4pm Quaid E Millath.

KUMBAKONAM UNITThis unit of Kumbakonam, met on 10th March, 2018, the second

Saturday of this month in the premises of Gopal Rao library,  Town HallRoad,  Kumbakomam,  by  5.30,    in  the  evening.      Prof  C.Rajasekaran,president  of  the  unit  presided.    As  a  collective  celebration  ProfC.Rajasekaran, president of the unit,  offered snacks and coffee   on   10th
