Acest catalog apare exact la o sută de ani după intrarea României în război de partea Antantei, în tabăra Rusiei care a fost pentru români mai degrabă un vecin ostil și lacom de a le ocupa pământurile, încă de pe vremea împărătesei Ecaterina care privea spre ținuturile românești visând să-l pună pe Potemkin, amantul ei, rege al unei Dacii reîntregite sub dominion rusesc, cum au făcut în secolul al XVIII-lea când au ocupat Transnistria, la 1821 când au ocupat jumătate din țara Moldovei (Basarabia), cum aveau să facă și la 1940 când au impus - prin amenințări cu război - reocupa-

rea Basarabiei, cotropirea Bucovinei și a ținutului Herța; în tabăra Franței care avea interese pragmatice în Balcani și care privea cu simpatie spre sora sa de gintă latină; în tabăra Regatului Unit care era indiferent față de soarta românilor, dacă nu chiar ostil; împotriva Germaniei, de care Regele Carol I al României (prinț de Hohenzollern und Sigmaringen) era legat prin legături de sânge și un pact secret pe care Regele Ferdinand l-a anulat; dar în primul rând împotriva Austriei și mai ales a Ungariei care, de mai multe secole, aplica o politică sistematică și rușinoasă de represiune etnică și culturală față de români, care la un moment dat (prin pactul Unio Trium Nationum) fuseseră chiar declarați de către ocupanți „națiune tolerată” în propria lor țară, cam la fel ca pieile roșii din America secolului XIX sau precum aborigenii din Australia.

Regatul României a intrat în război pentru ca aceste stări de fapt să ia sfârșit, prin reunirea tuturor românilor într-o singură țară, aspirație legitimă pentru orice națiune a lumii. După război, la 1 Decembrie 1918, la Alba Iulia și apoi în tratatele de pace, avea să se scrie pe hîrtie ultimul capitol al reunirii provinciilor românești într-o singură patrie, după ce, ca de atâtea alte ori în cursul istoriei românilor, el se scrisese cu sânge pe câmpul de luptă.

Ocupația austro-ungară a provinciilor românești a avut consecințele ei - unele bune, altele rele - între altele, aceea că o jumătate de milion de români au luptat în armata K.u.k. Acest catalog este scris și în memoria lor.

the reoccupation of Bessarabia and engulped Bukowina and the Herța land; in the camp of France who was looking with a friendly eye to her Latin sister; in the camp of the United Kingdom who was indifferent to the fate of the Romanians, if not hostile; against Germany to which King Carol I (Prince of Hohenzollern und Sigmaringen) was linked by blood ties and a secret pakt which King Ferdinand rendered void; but, first and foremost, against the Habsburg Empire and especially Hungary which, for centuries, had been pursuing a constant and rather shameful policy of ethnical and cultural repression against the Romanians in the occupied provinces - at a certain moment (by the Unio Trium Nationum treaty), the occupants had even declared the Romanians to be a „tolerated nation” in their own country, much like the Native Indians in the XIX-th century America or the Aborigenes in Australia. The Romanian Kingdom had joined war to see all that ended, aiming to see all the Romanian provinces reunited into a single homeland, a legitimate aspiration for any nation of the world. After the war, on 1 December 1918, the last chapter of the Romanian reunion was to be declared at Alba Iulia and, subsequently, written on paper in the Peace Treaties - after, like so many other times, the Romanias had to write their history in blood, on the battlefields. The Austro-Hungarian occupation left its marks, though - some good, some bad - among others, in the fact that half a million of Romanians had fought in the K.u.k army. This catalogue is written in their memory too.

In al doilea rând, multor colecționari care s-au străduit să caute prin colecțiile lor varietăți și tipuri mai rare sau m-au ajutat să umplu goluri și să înlocuiesc imaginile unor piese de calitate slabă cu altele mai bune. Unii colecționari mi-au lăsat cu generozitate în grijă colecțiile lor atât timp cât a fost necesar pentru a le studia și a hotărâ ce anume voi folosi pentru catalog. În fine, unii colecționari mi-au semnalat materiale care păreau necunoscute sau ciudate, adăugând detalii interesante, dar aceștia sunt prea mulți ca să poată fi toți amintiți aici. Mulțumirile mele au fost exprimate deja personal către fiecare din ei. Vă mulțumesc din nou și aici, tuturor.

Remintesc de asemenea că site-ul EXPONET apărut prin strădania unor filateliști din Cehia, găzduiește exponate de mare interes, între care cele de poștă militară sunt demne de toată admirația. Îmi fac datoria de a aminti că am folosit bibliografia indicată la sfârșitul catalogului, în care se ascunde multă pasiune și dăruire, reprezentând uneori o muncă de pionierat sau de asiduă cercetare. Fără informațiile din lucrările respective, acest catalog ar fi fost mai puțin relevant. Intre acestea, munca zecilor de colecționari și pasionați care și-au făcut publice studiile și rodul pasiunii lor în revistele clubului ArGe Militaria Austriaca și ArGe Feld-und Zensurpost care, chiar și pentru simplul fapt că există, întrețin vie pasiunea multor colecționari.

Și în final, inventatorilor care au creat minunatul Internet, care face posibilă o documentare de calitate și o comunicare rapidă până la capătul lumii și înapoi. Bravo! Ce TREABĂ FAINĂ ați făcut!
