LUCKY DUCK—While playing scout ball in 2010, he was turned away by an overbooked hotel…to apologize, the hotel provided a gift bag with treats and a rubber duck…the duck found its way to his equipment bag, where it was forgotten…after a strong first season as a professional, he was frustrated by a poor 2012 campaign…the next spring began poorly as well, until Jake realized a new equipment bag had separated him from the duck…when his father shipped Jake’s car, he placed the duck inside…an outstanding 2013 campaign followed and the duck has traveled with him to the ballpark ever since.
