My mommy and daddy are Kassie and Jeremy. We have been through quite a struggle, but I am here today as ‘Chairman’ of the 2015 Golf Classic to let you know about the special place CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital holds in our hearts. When my mom’s water broke at 25 weeks gestation, they didn’t know what to expect. My parents were terrified. The doctors spent two weeks stopping and prolonging my arrival to give me a fighting chance. After days and hours of education from the medical staff on what was going to happen, my mom could no longer support me and I was born on December 23, 2014. Just 2 lb., 2 oz. and 14 inches long, I was not ready. I was cocooned in a large, imposing machine with wires protruding from my little body and a ventilator covering my head. I couldn’t feel my parents’ touch on my skin or hear their heartbeats as I lie on their chests. I’m a fighter though, and after two months of battling infection and a surgery, I was finally ready to experience the outside world and was moved from my machine to an open incubator. My NICU team had nurtured me and provided expert medical care. On April 23, 2015 at 8 lbs., 3 oz., I finally got to go home. Thankfully for me and hundreds of other babies and families, these services exist in our community. Your support will continue to help me in my journey and those who unfortunately will need this highest-level clinical service at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital. EZEKIEL CONNER, 2015 “CHAIRMAN”

The CAMC Foundation Golf Classic benefits the Foundation Children’s Fund. Proceeds from the tournament are used to fund children’s safety net services, including NICU, trauma, clinics and preventive and educational programs at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital. Your contribution to the 2015 Golf Classic will help support the following:
• Pediatric Oncology Program Provides clinical services to children diagnosed with cancer.
• Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital is home to the highest-level NICU available, which cares for hundreds of high-risk infants each year. The NICU is a 26-bed unit specializing in the care of premature babies.
• The CAMC Family Resource Center Provides an array of specialized outpatient mental health services, educational offerings and support groups to children and families in our community and region.
