The Wellness Program has been providing weekly

Senior Fitness activities for community

members who come to the TWC for the

Senior Meal Program and an Aging Well

class designed for older adults but open to

anyone in the community. Since January,

33 community members have attended a

total of 58 fitness activities. A few have

only participated once, but many

participate on a regular basis.

The types of activites offered included Tai Chi, Country

Dance Fit, Aging Well, Chair Volleyball, Walking, Seated

Stretch, Beach Ball Game, Chair Basketball, and Corn

Hole. We know that some standard exercises are not

suitable for everyone so we offer low-impact & FUN

alternatives to keep seniors active. Many of the

activites are safe, enjoyable, can be held indoors, and

are all great ways to improve and maintain balance,

flexibility, strength, and range of motion. Activites are

provided by Isaac Leon, Kathryn Herrera, and Angela

Moreno. Special thanks to the Senior Program

staff for promoting and encouraging

participation. We hope others can join us!

Currently, we are offering classes for Fall

Prevention; Matter of Balance is a 4-class series

designed for older adults or any community

member who is interested in preventing falls

among older adults. Each class will focus on a

different topic including what causes falls in older

adults, what you can do to protect yourself, how to

keep your home safe, and setting goals to increase

activity for better balance. You don’t want to miss out

on great information. For additional info, contact

Kathryn @ 771-6772.
