Welcome to a life-changing Course - By R F Christopher Those who take the Talmidim Awareness Course will experience a little of what it might have been like to sit at the feet of Jesus two thousand years ago. The Talmidim Awareness Course is for any one who may not have the time to engage with the level one ‘Talmid Course’ offered in the ‘Beyt Sefer’ school of YaYiN. In order to achieve the experience of sitting at the feet of Yeshua and bridge the two thousand year generational gap, many important academic disciplines, often neglected by modern institutions, will need to be learned. These include disciplines such as: exegesis, memorization, oral culture and language. The Talmidim Awareness Course offers a quick overview of the discipleship offered in the Yeshivah. In this course you will gain a broad appreciation of the subjects covered in the main schools: the Beyt Sefer, the school of knowledge and the school of gifting. This will enable each student to quickly focus his/her mind upon the real nature of discipleship, study and lifestyle in a way that we believe is completely unique and transformative.

BEYT SEFER –Initial Modules The Talmidim Awareness Course provides a brief overview of the Talmid Course offered in the Beyt Sefer. The Beyt Sefer is aptly named the ‘house of the book.’ It is all about understanding the bible as a document and is therefore the correct starting point for beginning Talmidim. The course integrates modules in important starter disciplines such as biblical language awareness, interpretation, locating gifting and priestly living which prepares the student for more advanced discipleship.

Priesthood: Discipleship is not just about academia; it is about practical living. In fact, lifestyle easily beats academia hands down in terms of priority. As you will learn, the principle of ‘less to great’ is an important biblical concept. The apostle Paul stated ‘If a man can’t take care of his own house, how can he take care of the Church of God? Jesus also said ‘he that is faithful in small things is faithful in great things.’ In G-d’s economy, character goes from less to great.

Article Continued . . . This concept of character and of the temple also applies in discussing the physical and spiritual; how we treat the physical and love our selves determines how we love others. The journey into the temple moved from public to private. As believer/priests, we steward the presence of G_D within us. The priest took care of the physical coverings but was also careful to approach G_d in the correct manner. Prayer involved taking time to become near to G-d (kavana). The priest had appointed times for going to G_d to confess intercede and worship. Likewise, we can go into the very presence of Christ. As priests of new covenant, we steward our families, our finances and the, leading worship but also representing G-d to the community with a life of holiness and worship.

Interpretation Yeshua, as a young boy, spoke in a manner that caught the attention of the lawyers and Doctors. They were amazed by his questions. In the Sermon on the Mount, Yeshua engaged his audience using Jewish rhetorical devices to communicate his message. By looking at this sermon, we will study the techniques of exegesis that would have been in use. We will also study how the apostle Paul used Greek and Jewish devices as well as standard hermeneutic techniques to extract meaning from scripture. After this course, you will be well-placed to exegete the bible.

Beyt Sefer Final Modules Locating Gifting When we were born, God placed within us gifts, emanations, potentials and abilities. One of the greatest tragedies in life is to go through life without using the gifting within us. In the locating gifting module, students will be trained to locate and develop the God-given gifts that God has placed within them. Existing gifts can be enhanced, focused and maximized when the student is encouraged and taught correctly.

In this module, we prepare the student for the later modules offered in the school of gifting. The main aim is to construct a correct hermeneutical understanding of all of the main categories of gifts listed in the scriptures, their application and purposes for the modern church and society. We will therefore explore everything from Dreams, tongues, faith, and discernment. After the course the student will be able to apply the knowledge to practical situations giving glory to God and edifying himself and the church. There has been much debate about the place of gifts in the modern church with some believing that they have no place at all. This is not what messiah taught. The Hebrew culture always embraced the miraculous and even mystical elements of life. The ultimate aim is to give a detailed theology and defense of the continuation of the gifts of the spirit for the modern church today and a guide as to how to unleash and develop your unique gifting. By the end of this module, you will be fully equipped to better utilize the talents and gifting that G-d has placed within you.

Hebrew and Greek Awareness Module

Without engaging the language you will not be able to appreciate the words spoken by Yeshua. The Hebrew Greek awareness course is not a formal course in Hebrew or Greek but gives you an appreciation of the importance and value of Language with many relevant examples.

Your understanding of the bible will be greatly hampered without understanding the culture and language. By using key examples from the scripture, you will learn the vital importance of having a basic awareness of Hebrew Greek and Aramaic. While it may seem daunting, the tremendous value will outweigh any of the apprehension naturally felt when approaching something new.

After completing this module, you will gain a unique understanding and insight into many of the statements of Yeshua, the teachings and theology of the bible and develop a love and appreciation for the backdrop of the bible.
