Talaromyces guatemalensis A.Nováková,Svec,F.Sklenar,Kubátová&M.Kolařík, sp. nov. Etymology. Named according to the geographical origin of investigated isolates.

Classification—Trichocomaceae, Eurotiales, Eurotiomy-cetes.

Onmalt extract agar (MEA).Conidiophores biverticillate-symmetrical,stipesmooth,144–151×4.7µm,underpenicilluswithspathulatewidening.Metulaecylindrical,smooth,4–5in compactterminalwhorls,17.6×3.9–4.7µm.Phialides ampulli-form-acerose,3–4inwhorls,12–14.4×3.6(–4.8)µm.Conidia elliptical,rough˗walled,3.1–3.9×2.3µm. Culture characteristics—(in the dark, 25°C after 7d):Coloniesonmaltextractagar(MEA)synnematal,colonymar-ginsbrilliantyellow(ISCC–NBSNo.83)withverylowacerosesynnematacolouredalsobrilliantyellow,colonycentre(15mmdiam)withdistinctacerosesynnemataupto6–8mmhigh,turntogreyisholivegreen(No.127),somewithyellowishtops,noexudate,nosolublepigment,reversevividyellow(No.82)tostrongorangeyellow(No.68).ColoniesonCzapekyeastau-tolysateagar(CYA)synnematal,synnematashort,brillianttomoderateyellow(No.83,87),1mmto2–3mmhighincolonycentreandgreyishgreenishyellow(No.105)tolightgreyisholive(No.109)with4–5mmyellowishgrey(No.93)centreand2 mm submerged colony margin, soluble pigment vivid red-dishorange(No.34)todeepreddishorange(No.38),reversedeepreddishbrown(No.44)withpalermargins.ColoniesonCzapek-Doxagar(CZA)synnematalwithlowsynnemata,grey-ishgreenishyellow(No.105)onmargintogreyisholivegreen(No.127)withpalertopsinthecentre,noexudate,delicatetostrong(5–8mmring)solublepigmentvividreddishorange(No.34)missinginanycolonies,reversedarkreddishbrown(No.44).ColoniesonCzapekyeastautolysateagarwith20%sucrose(CY20S)plane,lowlanosewith1–5mmsubmerged

Notes—IsolateGUA2˗1(CCF6214,PRM952196)isphe-notypicallydifferent(brilliantyellowtobrilliantgreenishyellowpigmentationofcoloniesonBWAandMEA,synnemata80–100µmhigh,noorpureproductionofsolublepigmentonCYAandCZA,bigreddishdropletsonCZAin14d(onthecontraryintheex-typeisolate,deepreddishorange(No.41)solublepig-ment with distinct abundant occurrence in colony environs and reddishblack(No.24reversewerefound),verygoodgrowthandsporulationaswellasmassiveacidproductiononCREA).However,themolecularanalysesofalltestedgenes(ITS,tub2, CaM and RPB2)revealedthemtobeidentical.
