Intensive Japanese Language Program

Characteristics of the Intensive Japanese Language Program

Students are admitted to the one-year Core Program in either spring or fall. Depending on a student’s future plans, further Japanese study is possible in six-month increments.

Classes are organized by profi ciency level, with students studying according to their skill level. Guidance is provided for pursuing further education at national, public or private universities, graduate schools, or other educational institutions.

After graduating from university, I worked for a year. I then took part in working holiday programs in Australia and Japan. I really liked Japan, so I decided to study here. I learned of Takushoku’s IJLP through my mother’s friend. I like Japanese fi lms, so I got a thorough grasp of Japanese in the IJLP and aimed for Tokyo University of the Arts for fi lmmaking. I was able to succeed because of the warm guidance I received from the instructors. I hope to get a job in fi lm distribution.

I took science courses in high school, and I particularly liked physics. I wanted to study in Japan since it’s is a world leader in R&D, so an instructor who graduated from Takushoku recommended IJLP. Once I got here, I was able to get a Takayama International Education Foundation scholarship. The careful instruction I got from IJLP instructors allowed me to learn Japanese and advance to university here. I’m studying mechanical systems engineering here at Takushoku and, in the future, I hope to contribute to Indonesia becoming a developed country like Japan through advancement of my country’s technology and engineering education.

In my online searches of schools where I could interact with many Japanese people, I felt that Takushoku’s IJLP was the best. The instructors are strict but nice, carefully teaching until I understood. There are fi eld trips, a speech contest and other events that introduce Japanese culture. Every Thursday, there is a “home room” where you can interact with Japanese students. There is also a large selection of electives other than Japanese language classes, and I recommend them for taking the Japanese Language Profi ciency Test. I received a scholarship and was able to get admitted to Takushoku’s Faculty of International Studies. In the future, I’d like to have a career that involves the internationalization of sports.

I love Japanese dramas, movies and anime and always watched them with Thai subtitles. I decided to learn Japanese so I could enjoy them without the subtitles. I learned about Takushoku’s IJLP at a JASSO Study in Japan Fair in Thailand. I also talked to my university seniors and checked the internet, and found that Takushoku was a good fi t. There are courses that support what you plan to do after the program and you can receive guidance about furthering your education in Japan. I received a Takayama International Education Foundation scholarship, and every day is fulfi lling. Now, I plan to further my Japanese studies at Takushoku’s Graduate School of Language Education.

Spring and fall � eld trips, traditional Japanese arts appreciation classesStudents go on a one-night, two-day trip in the spring and a day trip in the fall to study Japanese culture. During these trips, students will experience a World Heritage site, make soba noodles, etc. Events such as lunchtime barbeques will help students relax and get to know others. There are also classes to experience kabuki and sumo, a visit to the Edo-Tokyo Museum, etc.

Speech ContestRepresentatives from each class give speeches on various topics to demonstrate their developing Japanese skills. This is the crowning event for the year, with a grand prize winner, awards of excellence, a best eff ort award and a judges’ award.
